Forgot to post this Wardy. It’s a screenshot I took from the Sailor Jerry documentary. This was done in the early 40’s, before criminal association.
All the tattoos are by Sailor Jerry himself.

I say get it.
No different to someone getting hold fast on their knuckles or a ship with a homeward bound banner.They’re examples of traditional tattoos reserved for sailors that are commonplace now. -

For most of his life he didn’t draw actually, he spent it playing music.
What Bob did was get a tattoo at 30 which got him hooked to get more tattoos so he decided to start drawing and take a few classes. Eventually he took his “portfolio” into a local shop and they gave him his break.
