The only issue I have with your reasoning is that a forearm tattoo with the amount of elements (and resulting size) that you wanted will inevitably end up crossing onto the top of your forearm. I’m sure Russ explained to you how your skin has elasticity like a rubber band, so that what seems to lie only on your inner forearm with your arm laid out…[Read more]

Figured I’d spill the news because after what happened at the shop I don’t know if caliguy will be back on here talking about it. So, after Russ completely freehanded the design onto caliguys forearm, and literally seconds away from beginning the tattoo, he decided to bail because he had to think about it some more. Kind of a bummer because i know…[Read more]

Yea. That dense border is a paisley pattern and the dots on the inside are individual paisleys.

I haven’t seen it used as filler before, but the pattern is called a paisley so try googling that.

Haha yup that’s where I work. Crazy coincidence. I think I overheard you and russ talking about it the other day. He’ll kill it. That shit is right up his alley.

Just out of curiosity, where did you decide to get it done. I was just checking the appointment book at work and saw a guy is coming in to get a skull and robin. And seeing that you’re from CA, I thought it’d be crazy if that was you.

Go color. Take advantage of being pale. Thats what I did, and I’m glad I went the color route.

My first was my chestpiece. You’ll be fine. Break it up into 3-4 sessions if it hurts more than expected.

I’d guess I would probably take more than one session. 1 for outline and shading, another for color. But if you sit well and your artist is down for a long session, I guess it could be done in 1. As for rates, average is usually $100-150 an hour depending on the artist, but some are more. Who did you have in mind?

replied to the topic First Tattoo: Chest piece? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 13 years, 8 months ago
my first was a chestpiece. the only good thing about it is that you dont really know what to expect pain-wise going into it so you have nothing to compare it to.
and if you plan on doing your arms too then they will be a breeze. i say go for it, it worked out well for me.
as for pricing, mine was around 1K but im sure they can range above and…[Read more] -

yea with scarification they cut out a design from your skin with a scalpel. i figured if he was going for the scarred look he now has 1 more option haha

i believe its called scarification or branding. id check with shops that do more of the “extreme” body modifications, ie tounge splitting and whatnot

all my tattoos have been done in multiple sessions and i tend to only tip after the last session. but as others have said, even though tipping isn’t necessarily expected, it is greatly appreciated.
and just out of curiosity, how come paying in cash is better than with a card? i always see the signs that “cash is appreciated” but i’ve never really…[Read more]
