Interesting concept Outlaw, firstly perhaps you could tell me what the checkmark by my thread means. It says rated but I can’t find a rating anywhere so I clicked a rating and accidentally rated it myself lol! Secondly, there are no certification or licensing requirements for the state of Arizona. Been tattooing for 16 years and built my own parlor here on my 2 1/2 acres. A city business license is all that is required to tattoo here. I guess in that respect every tattoo shop here is run by scratchers lol! Don’t know what to tell ya man, it is what it is and I wasn’t aware of this rule, just responding to the other guy about my ink. Perhaps this won’t be the forum for me after all, might explain why there aren’t any tattoo artists listed for Arizona in your directory. Please let me know what the story is here, much appreciated!!!

Depends on the laws where you live. Here in Arizona the law is clear… noone under the age of 14 can get tattoo’d, 14-17 must have parent or legal guardian present throughout the procedure and parent must sign the waiver in place of the recipient.

Everybody hates scratchers… Fact is in Arizona where I live there are no certification courses, no licenses, only a few rules we must follow which vary from county to county (spore tests, clean work environment, must be in permanent structure etc…) I guess in that regard every tattoo artist in Arizona is a scratcher. Another fact, even though most of the local shops here are run by self-upgraded scratchers, there are thousands of more scratchers out there which are better tattoo artists than whats available in the shops. How to become a tattoo artist in the US simply depends on the laws where you live. Many areas in Arizona have no regulations at all which is kinda scary lol! I’ve been tattooing 16 years, taught myself, built my parlor on my 2 1/2 acres, stidied BBP’s on my own, and don’t advertise except word of mouth. My reputation is my future so I treasure it like gold!

This could totally be redone! Arnivader is right, if the picture quality were clear it would be easier to tell but right now it’s just a blurr. I’m a big fan of kanji so I think it should just be freshened up and yes, enlarge the wings by a size and use the bumpy edges that exist now to build on for inner wing detail. The leaf isn’t a problem, just get it reworked into the new design. Leaving any part of the old tat undone will just look wrong once the new ink is in. Make it all fresh and new and you’l be happy with it again!!! 🙂

Backs are just plain tender areas as far as I am concerned. I like to watch, and when I can’t see the only thing left for me is to feel lol! Gearing up now for a recolor on my back, been aprenticing my wife for a year now so she’s doing well enough but we’ll see how it turns out lol!
