Wow! For a virgin, you sure did jump into the deep end of the pool on your first time, didn’t you?
Great tattoo, and your ideas seem really nice. I’m sure he can put all that together into one piece and make it “blend” by using his style and artistic talent. Wear that thing loud and proud!
And don’t worry, I got my first for my 42nd birthday… ๐

replied to the topic tattoo policy at work in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 12 years, 9 months ago
It depends upon the exact policy that is currently in place when you are trying to draft your argument, but I am assuming it is a “no visible tattoos” policy. So for the sake of argument, you can go about it a few ways:
As stated above, you could cite studies that show almost two-thirds of the US population ages 18-39 have at least one tattoo.…[Read more]

You may want to consider a few sessions getting it lasered so it lightens up first. Remember, its just like a drawing done on a white piece of paper with a black marker. Try to do one and then see how you can cover it up. If its bigger than your thumbnail, you probably can’t. So then you end up with a gigantic black blob covering up whatever…[Read more]

replied to the topic quick question on small bumps on my tattoo in the forum Tattoo Questions and Experiences 12 years, 9 months ago
Agreed. After three months you should not be putting anything on your tattoo. You have probably been over doing it with the lotion and/or ointment. If the skin can’t breathe, bad things happen. Stop using any product at all, and just clean it once a day with normal soap, unscented and non-fragrant if you can help it. Then see what happens in…[Read more]

Welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you are taking the good advice here and NOT getting your tattoo at all for now. Most people would probably just hold off on the party piece of the equation, but… hey, whatever works! Just remember, a new tattoo is an open wound. Would you tell someone to go clubbing if they had an open wound on them, or…[Read more]

For some reason I keep having a picture in my mind of a pocket watch, face open, laying on top of a book. Is there some kind of book that has any special meaning to you or your wife?
Like the pic with the chain, adds detail and dimension.

Looks good so far but why the hell would you need to add your last name to it? Do you not know who you are? In my opinion finish the crest and move on, don’t fuck it up by adding a name. Truly sorry to hear of your loss. There are many types of images and symbols you could use to represent your kids in a tattoo. Birds are often used imagery for loved ones lost, as well as butterflies. Lambs are used to represent children, too. Empty shoes also represent the loss of a child, usually with one shoe turned over. The sun can…[Read more]

replied to the topic Any offsense from a Koi design with heavy Japanese influence? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 12 years, 10 months ago
There is basically no chance of offending a japanese native with a koi tattoo. The koi is representative of dealing with struggles. So in some camps, a koi fish swimming upstream signifies the struggle, while a fish going downstream can mean the you have overcome the struggle. In mythology, a koi fish that successfully makes it upstream…[Read more]

There’s no protocol, per se. The artist doesn’t need you naked, they just need clear access to the area to be worked on. And yes, they have seen it all. Talk to your artist, they’ll give you an idea of what you can wear. Maybe a skirt, or a bikini, or just be able to pull a pear of sweats down and off to the side. You’ll need to be prepared…[Read more]

What if you did half the ribbon in rainbow stripes and half the ribbon in puzzle pieces? Would that look too busy or confusing? Or, could you do the ribbon with the puzzle pieces but use rainbow colors instead?
Have you run the idea by your artist yet to see what they think? These folks are pretty creative, might be able to come up with…[Read more]
