Hey! It was my first ink! Just wanted to be safe and not screw it up. I think my artist said to wait a week or two if I remember right, but I was overly cautious. Plus, I’m so ridiculously ripped and muscular, its hard to lose any real muscle in just a few weeks. 😉

Anyone else getting this crap in fucking 2011??????I’m a couple of years older than you, and I think it’s a generational thing. I’ve been told that it is not recommended to work out for the first few weeks after a tattoo, not only because of the stretching issue, but also because of sweating. A tattoo is an open would, basically, and you want to keep it as clean and dry as possible. That’s how tattoos can become infected, especially at a petri dish like a gym.

I know white is a tricky color. I’ve heard of some artists actually using a blue shade instead.
Can you post a pic so we can see?

replied to the topic Tattoo Family Crest question in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 13 years, 1 month ago
The other issue is that there can be multiple crests for the same name depending on what branch of the family you are from or from what region your ancestry hails from.
If you really want an accurate family crest, you need to do your homework and start working your family tree. That’s the only way you will know for sure. And even then, you may…[Read more]

Very nice! Has a sort of old-school quality to it. I like it, interesting verse you’ve referenced with it. Sort of the storm before the calm?
Congrats on the new ink! Wear it loud and proud!

I said the same thing when I got my first. One and done. I haven’t gone out and gotten another one yet, but… would I do another one if the inspiration hit me? You bet.
As far as your concept for your first tattoo, have you found an artist yet to do it? I would seriously start looking in your area for someone you like, someone who does…[Read more]

replied to the topic Going for my first tattoo. Will this fail? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 13 years, 1 month ago
I guess it depends on the look you are going for, but my first thought when you said a blue colored was was a sad/mourning sort of heart. I sort of subscribe to the ‘picture says a thousand words” philosophy, so I try to see meaning, especially in tattoos. So if I saw a blue heart, I would think that the person was trying to convey some message…[Read more]

Had you been in the sun lately? I know that having too much sun can bring blood to the surface of the skin and cause excess bleeding. In addition, I’ve heard that taking certain aspirins and pain relievers before getting a tattoo can thin the blood and cause bleeding.
Is this your first tattoo?

That’s going to be a tough cover up. Anything you try to put over it will still have the original tattoo underneath. Your two best options are:
1. Add to what you have. Don’t cover it up, bu see if you can put some additional color or detail to change it, or
2. Lighten it through laser removal to the point where you CAN put something even…[Read more] -

1. You should be able to just fine, but your artist will need to answer this for sure depending on the art you specifically want
2. Some artists charge for the job, some go by the hour. Costs are all over the map, but remember this: you get what you pay for, and you will have this for the rest of your life. This is not the time to be bargain…[Read more] -
