Very sorry to hear about your friend. Seems like a lot of bad news on the forum as of late…
It’s a very doable idea. Your best bet is to try and find a tattoo artist in your area. The good ones love to work on designs like this, since most of them are artists to begin with. Just tell them what you told us about what you want to do and see…[Read more]

replied to the topic Outline Finished (Japanese Style) – Colour scheme suggestions please? in the forum Inked Skin 13 years, 1 month ago
I know I’ve read in the past that specific colors on koi are supposed to mean different things. I think black for male/father, orange for female/mother, blue/white for son… something like that.
You should be able to pull up some referrences online to that, or check with your artist. Better safe than sorry.

That was my thought, too. Hope she liked it? Did she stick around for the final result?

Have you thought about adding to it instead of covering it? If its the story of the tattoo that is bothering you, than why not add a gypsy woman or a pirate around it? Or a gypsy woman on a pirate ship? Just finish the story. If you liked the idea three years ago, just kick it up a small notch.
Just a thought…
Edit: Can you post a pic?…[Read more]

Hard to tell (the second photo not as good as the first in quality), but I was expecting much worse from your initial message to be honest. It does look like there might be some ink loss in the shading below that jagged section toward the bottom of your hand, but the rest doesn’t seem all that bad for less than one week post procedure.
Remember,…[Read more]

You may just have a certain zone on your body that ink will not take to. Remember, when you get tatooed you are basically injecting a foreign substance into your body and hoping that it will not reject said item. It might be that whatever the makeup of your skin is in that area is not susceptible to ink. Also, the skin is very thin on the back…[Read more]

That’s the beauty of a tattoo! It’s the only medium where you can combine things that would normally never be accepted together in one form and its okay.
Start thinking of concepts an ideas that represent what you are feeling. A new life: flowers, spring, sunrise? America: flag, eagle? California: beaches, palm trees, avacados? See what I…[Read more]

I figured that’s what you meant on the date, couldn’t pass up the chance to razz ya though. 😉
It doesn’t have to be something huge, you’d be surprised what a good artist can do with a limited amount of space. 5 or 6 inches across could be more than plenty, and you don’t have to do something like a rib tattoo. Back of your shoulder, arm, even…[Read more]

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your successes!
Text is always such a crap shoot, and can be very difficult, especially if there is a lot of it. Have you thought about a picture to represent your “Coming to America”? What about a plane, maybe with a Swedish flag on the side of it, landing in sunny So Cal, over a blue ocean with a palm tree…[Read more]

That’s very feasilble. You need to look at degree of difficulty here, for sure.
When I looked at the “fingerprint” versus the tattoo, other than the fact that the individual lines on the pads were missing (which would have been a very difficult process to begin with) is that all of the extra filler from the ink was from your dogs fur on his…[Read more]

I’ve never heard of putting olive oil on a new tattoo, that’s a new one for me. And I can’t say I’ve heard of that Palmer stuff either. As far as keeping plastic wrap on it, you’re going to get a lot a conflicting comments on that one. A lot of people will say that a tattoo needs to breathe in order to heal, and keeping it covered allows…[Read more]
