Are you still going to try an upper back piece? I like the idea of the owl, I think it will work well with the pocket watch, too. You had mentioned train tracks and fall leaves as well earlier. Could you do something where maybe a scene starts on…[Read more]

Agreed. One of the great aspects of nebulae is the conrast between dark and light, the thin wisps and tiny details. All of that will be hard to translate to skin and keep “fresh”. In addition, space scenes require a LOT of dark colors and black, so keep that in mind when thinking about how much time (and money) you want to spend in the…[Read more]

I agree. I think we’re going to need multiple pics from all possible angles in order to really determine whats best here… 😉
Seriously, I’d find a good cover up artist in your area and discuss it with them. Remember, the usual way to cover up one small black piece of art is with a bigger black piece. So for example, take a picture of a…[Read more]

What they said, but…
Be prepared to pay for the work you are requesting. You will have to put down a deposit in order to secure an artist and have them develop your idea into something tangible (maybe $60-$100?), but the deposit will go towards the cost of your tattoo. Most reputable tattoo artists will not let you leave with their artwork in…[Read more]

Very nice! I really like the traditional Japanese style tattoos. 9 1/2 hours in one sitting? Congrats on the stamina, man… I’d have to break that up into like 8 sessions!

I’d rule out the center of your chest. The fingers don’t really take ink too well, either. Wears off after a few years fairly regularly.
I think the thigh has some promise. You can hide it easily enough.
Question though: Shouldn’t it be your BF that gets his badge number tattooed on him since he’s the one that had the accomplishment? It’s…[Read more]

My thoughts as above, if you have a body like that, I’m sure most tattoos would look good lol
Personally if you are prepared to get a whole arm and side done, just think of what you can have with a picture tattoo from an awesome artist.I don’t like this style of tattoo either.

First of all, if you like your tattoo, then don’t worry what anyone else thinks. They don’t have to wear it, you do. Don’t change it just because some yahoo said it was “trendy”.
Secondly, if you do want to get it covered or added to, you need to find an artist in your area that does work you like and ask them. You may not need to do a full…[Read more]

Congrats! I hope all goes well!
A hollowed log, maybe with something poking out, like an animal or something, could be very cool. That’s a neat idea. Is there any animal that could be representative of your son or even your wife? Maybe a favorite teddy bear, or even a family pet? You could have som e real fun with it!
Let us know how it all…[Read more]

6 months out should be plenty of time to book an appointment with one of the better shops. You can email these artists directly, see if they have any availability, and even go over your concept and ideas to have a concept dine before you get there. Even May might be enough time. I mean, some of the worlds best can be a year or more out, but…[Read more]

I agree, red is cool. I have a black tattoo with just one red character on it, looks great.
You could also use green (or red) in the leaves. Green would sort of give it a spring/re-birth feel and red would be more of a fall look. Just something to think about…

I agree with your original post. It seems like once a week someone is posting with a message:
“I want to get a tattoo, something that represents all that I’ve overcome in my life. What can I get?”
How do we know what is going to be an appropriate representation permanently etched into your skin for the rest of your life about whatever it is…[Read more]
