Just thought id throw in that piercing guns are filthy machines that can not be sterilized properly..yes!

But also…they dont actually pierce your ear, they use a method consisting of blunt force trauma, which in most circumstances damages tissue and if pierced through cartlidge will in most cases shatter cartlidge. In turn the damage the guns cause will elongate the initial healing period and obviously cause your body unnessisary carnage.

Any PROFESSIONAL piercer would never touch a piercing gun and in my eyes as snobby as it may sound, any one who uses a piercing gun and claims to be a professional are kidding themselves. (this statement is not aimed at you Ivy at all Im just stating my opinion as i really do loath piercing guns.) 🙂

the standard needle gauge is 18g for lobes, 22g for nostrils. just fyi. 16g, maybe. but not 14g. standard posts are 18g.

18g? Are you serious? I am refering to INITIAL jewellery here.

Who in their right mind told you those where the initial sizes?

For lobes 16g is the absolute smallest gauge you should use for initial jewellery and 18g for nostrils at its absolute least. But the world standard is
14g for any initial piercings excluding genitals which is 12g at least and nostirls which is 18g at least; used as the initial piece. The APP will concur.

If you are wanting to stretch your ears and then take them out at a later stage for your career so they can close up completely or atleast small enough for standard jewellery you don’t want to go past 8 to 10mm maximum as once you have passed that size it is less likely for it to close up completely or to the standard jewllery suze which is 14g (1.6mm).

Basically the more you stretch, the more elasticity in your lobes will wear down and the harder it is for them to close up. All this also depends on how well you stretch your ears, if you do it properly, stretching every 2 to 3 months depending on your body, at never more then 2mm jumps at a time your more likely to sustain good elasticity in your ears making it alot easier for your ears to shrink and/or close.

hope this helps. 🙂

Firsty, you brought this upon yourself by piercing it so very irrisponsibly and unhygienically; I hope you have learnt your lesson.

Secondly, the first picture is not your piercing…the two piercings are in completely different possitions and the navels are completely different shapes; at least we all know you can use google image search. 🙂

Thirdly: A navel is apart of the “semi-surface” family which tend to have a higher risk of rejection due to variable factors.

Seeing as it was pierced on a very interesting angle this would have contributed to the fact your navel rejected, due to flesh being strained by your body’s movment; it also would have caused the freshly pierced flesh alot of irritation and strain, you also pierced it way too shallow even with the photo of your navel showing later stages of rejection i can tell it was pierced well under the proper depth as to which it should have been pierced, this in itself would have had alot to do with it rejecting at such a fast rate, seeing as there was not a sufficient amount of surface area holding it in place.

Other contributing factors could/would have been poor aftercare, poor tools and jewellery, the fact it was a home job, early jewellery change over, swimming in pools/spas/ocean before the enitial healing period was over just to name a few.

From how you have discribed your situation; It would not have been an infection, as infections consist of skin discolouration, itching, foul smelling discharge, and immense pain. This was simply a case of rejection due to the unfortunate consiquences of a home job piercing.

Getting it repierced over the scar tissue is doable and safe. Although when done professionally it will miss alot of the scar tissue as it will be pierced straight this time. Before getting it repierced wait until it has completely healed, which normally takes 2 to 3 months, during this time you should give it emu oil massages twice a day to reduce the scar tissue.

Hope this helps.

make sure you go to a reputable piercer. as with cheek piercings…piercing them to far out will actually mess with your perotid glands, this causes alot of fluid build ups which needs frequent draining. cheek piercings done through the perotid glands take a long time to heel some up to 3 years if they heal at all, [this can even happen when aftercare and care in general is taken] and even when relitivly healed you will get random fluid buld ups. there is a check you can do so you miss the perotid glands but you have to be open minded to the fact they wont be very far out wear most “natural” dimples would be. also with cheek piercings due to large amount of movment due to talking etc be prepared for the piercing to migrate and/or tear if pierced at an angle that pushes against your anatomy if that makes sence. healing is also a difficult period if you smoke. but with all this said you might be lucky and heal nicely just be prepared for alot of high maintenance with the cheeks. they are well worth the shinanigans they can cause.[this all comming from my personal expierience and the expieriences of my varied clients] hope this helps. 🙂
