would neosporin do the job of sterilizing the area without causing anything major to the scabbing?

well I wasn’t able to show him personally as he’s off on some vacation but the artists at the same shop told me to discontinue any treatment cept gentle water/antibacterial wash until most of the scab has gone. (2 – 3 times a day)
