This ^^^^ is what I always do. I go in armed with a few references, describe what I want and leave the design up to the artist. WITHOUT FAIL, every time the artist has come up with something that is completely different that I was picturing, and always way way better. The overall idea is still the same, but the composition is not something that…[Read more]

I’d say that ‘abstract’ or even ‘abstract geometric’ would be a good way to describe something like that. Googled those and found some similar stuff.

Welcome! I think pics have to be OK’d by an admin when you first join. After that they won’t need approval.

The last time I had a bad bruise after a tattoo that seemed to last forever, it did last forever. It wasn’t a bruise but a bad blow out. Has your bruise changed colour (you know, to that nasty yellow brown green) like they do when they heal? If it is still black and blue like a fresh bruise 6 weeks out then it probably isn’t a bruise.
Pictures?

Welcome to the forum (and thank you for your service!).
Some diabetics can have healing issues, but I imagine that if that was a problem for you that you would probably be aware of that already. Be upfront with your artist, you won’t be their first diabetic client so they should know what problems to watch for or what extra care needs to be…[Read more]

Pics?
Good luck.

It looks fine/normal. Use less Aquaphor, if your skin is shiny a few minutes after you apply it then you are using too much.

Hey Jim! What style are you into? American Traditional, Japanese, New Skool, Realism? It’s hard to recommend an artist without knowing that first.
The first artist that came to mind in your area is Freddy Corbin. Scott Sylvia is down there, too.

Yes. It will stay brown. You should go back to show the artist, to educate them.

Welcome to the forum! For sure you can mix styles and mix colour with b&g.
I think b&g sleeves would look great next to a colour chest piece.
I’m not so sure about one colour and one b&g sleeve, but that may be because I like things a little more even, balanced. I have mostly full colour pieces but the outside of one calf has a cool b&g anchor…[Read more]

I am very careful in choosing artists, so I fully hope to never need a cover up. I do have one that needs to be re-worked, but it is from before I knew how to tell a good artist from a bad one. And it isn’t terrible, it just isn’t the same caliber as the rest of my tattoos. Luckily it is in a spot where I never see it, so the fix-up can wait a while.

replied to the topic what do you think of my tattoo in the forum Inked Skin 9 years, 4 months ago
I don’t think that it’s terrible, but it’s definitely not a good photo of it. Are the lines much more crisp than it looks I the photo? Did you design it yourself? (It kinda looks to me like you did.) But I also think that a tattoo artist should be able to execute something that size in a way that it shouldn’t need any changes. Or touch…[Read more]

Well, my knowledge of new-trad artists is about zero.
I follow Katelyn Crane on Instagram and she is in California (Northridge). When she does her own art it looks kind of neo-trad to me, at least her lady heads do. I’m not sure if her style is what you’re looking for, to me it is more illustrative than neo-traditional but here’s a couple of…[Read more]
