Blacklight inks do in fact work.
Proven, or not they are a specialty application. They are clearly not for everyone.
I did a test tattoo using Skin Candy “invisible” blacklight ink on my wrist. I have very pale skin. The “invisible” ink carries no pigments, only the microbeads that glow when exposed to UV light. So, I inked up a nautical star and…[Read more] -
replied to the topic Question for those with Japanese style tattoos in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 14 years, 7 months ago
Its just art. Few here, if any would ever be in a position where their body art would even be viewed in a relation to Yakuza affiliation. If you were to travel to Japan, any tattoos would make you stand out. But so would wearing sunglasses, being tall, and just about anything that marks you as an outsider.

Its a good start.
I would want to add capacitors and resistors and up the details. I would do it in color if it was me. -

Legally you have to disclose that you have a communicable disease.
Morally and ethically you have to do so, because you are exposing The tattooist, everyone in the shop, and everyone they come into contact with. Failure to disclose exposes you to liability from lawsuits whether you infect the tattooist or not. Most tattooists will not tattoo…[Read more] -

Take the photo to a shop that does quality portraits and pin-ups. Better yet, find an Artist that can draw. The image is not too small for a decent Artist to be able to take the image and scale it up by hand. The only critical area is really the face, and the photo you have is large enough to show detail. Look to pay a little more to have photo…[Read more]

I think a key design element of tattoos is, “if you have to explain to people WHAT it is, its not a good idea for a tattoo.”
That being said, the second pic is pretty nice. I could definitely rock that. The first design looks like stained glass. If you framed it in an oval it would probably work. You might also try like a flap of skin peeling back…[Read more] -

It may sound silly, but try pizza delivery.
If you have a car and insurance, you are in business. I did that part time when I was in school. I made like $100-200 some nights in tips, and the hourly paid for gas and tires etc. They wont even care that you will be gone in six months and its pretty easy. -

Its pretty.
However, all flowers dont look good as tattoos. Symetrical is a key element. If you have to explain to everyone what it is, you may want to rethink the design choice. If its just for you, then go for it! -

Numbing agents do work. I tried them on one of legs to test the effectiveness.
However, I tend to save them for cients that feel they need something to take the edge off.
If you are that concerned its gonna hurt, give it a pass. Tattooing hurts. period. -

You tip for service, not art.
Its like commissioning a work of art for a price, then giving more when you like what you paid for. -
replied to the topic Tipping on much larger tattos…? in the forum Miami Ink – La Ink 14 years, 8 months ago
I would say most Artists do not expect tips as a rule. Art is different from the service industry. The Artist is paid by the peice or by the hour. This is fair compensation as he sees it. $175 an hours says your Artist is not only accomplished, but has set his compensation comensurate with his skill. While tips are appreciated, you would not be…[Read more]

Very good idea for a tatt, also very nice Latin phrasing.
The Rose is an old School/American traditional style motif. I assume that is what you mean by rugged. You can get as much detail as you like if you get the design big enough! The style itself features bold black line work, so keep it simple. Search out an artist that specializez in American…[Read more] -
replied to the topic Anyone use tattoo specific sunscreen? in the forum Tattoo Aftercare 14 years, 9 months ago
Right.
Anything that blocks UV is fine. Ignore the hype. Tanning causes the formation of melanin in the skin. This breaks down fine particle dissemination in most tattoo pigments. This will spread, soften, and fade fineline tattoo work. Whites and light colors suffer the worst. High quality inks (Fusion, Eternal, Intenz) which feature both large…[Read more] -

The tattoos are on you, so its your ink. The “work” belongs to the artist, its his work.
Very nice job, who did the tattoos?
That close together, you should have some color work faded into the background to tie them together. -
replied to the topic Can it be covered? in the forum Tattoo Removal Discussion 14 years, 9 months ago
You might be able to lay the spiderman mask over it? Add a nasty green spider to the center of the web and color up the webs in purple. The contrast would be sweet and the old school element would steer clear of any prison or gang look. Personally, I dont worry about anything above the wrist. Any job that would be influenced by visible ink would…[Read more]

Good tattoos will never be overdone, even if everyone decides its the style. Due to the longevity of your tattoo, chances are good you will see the public go through a celtic phase, where everyone gets one.
Tribal is pretty overdone, but 90 % of what you see is really poor quality. Good tribal designs still make good tattoos. The same is true of…[Read more] -

I would suggest no lower than mid forearm so shirt sleeves will cover if needed. A watch band may not really hide or cover a tattoo. Then you look like you are trying to hide something. Employers still look down on visible tattoos, allowed or not. Once its done, its too late to decide you were wrong about where you got it. I work in a corporate…[Read more]

The quality of the tattoos looks average. It is probably the ability of the artist that gives you concerns. If you are not comfortable with the artist, find someone else. Money should never be the primary motivation for choosing your artist. You get what you pay for.
