my aunt got a portrait of her two daughters tattooed on her leg right above the ankle. it was from a pic taken of them together and turned out very nice. make sure you go to someone who specializes in portraits! my only problem with getting a portrait of my children is what age do you do it? they grow and change so much over the years that it would be hard to choose what age would be the right time…for me anyway! her youngest daughter already looks much different than the portrait and if you didn’t see the pic you’d think they had done her an injustice…but its perfect with the picture. i don’t think its tacky at all and its all about what you want to wear on your body! just realize that if they are young…they will quickly look different than the tat! even as teenagers they change so much…

just 2 so far, but am planning on others. not sure what exactly. i have to have my first one fixed or maybe covered up so that will probably be my next step!

i would find a good artist who specializes in tribal and have them design it. that way its custom and made just for you and your body! if you google ‘ tribal leo lion tattoo’ and click on the first site there is a pic of one, but i would go custom all the way.

very pretty, i like it. its actually a diaper rash ointment lol…but its what i was told to use and it worked! who would’ve thought? i had to ask the artist the same thing though! and after he told me i was like ‘what? are you serious’ 😉

i’d love to see a picture of it! i used a&d ointment for about 4 days and switched over to lotion, unscented. i’ve never used the bepanthan stuff so i’m not sure. when i had my first several years ago i used tattoo goo and they told me just to stick with that until healed…this time i was told to wait about 3 days and switch to just lotion. i waited till day 4 when most of the tenderness was gone (its on my rib=very sore) so i think everyone is different. i would think after almost a week though you’d be okay to switch but there will be more experienced answers for you soon i’m sure:) congrats on your first tat! no scabbing is okay, i don’t remember my first ever scabbing and the itching is def normal, mine is going crazy right now! enjoy:)

thanks matthew, my hubby said the same thing, that it would’ve been too big and part of the 4th leaf probably would’ve been hidden anyway with the dice and all, so i’m pretty happy with it.

thanks, i really like the color in it too, it was supposed to be a 4 leaf, but i didn’t catch it until it was too late, nerves i guess. not sure how i feel about that yet but i think it’s okay. don’t think it changes the ‘lucky’ meaning much…

i don’t have any ideas, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents…i’m getting a memorial for a friend on my ribs on saturday, there is no rip, just his name and a few things he loved thrown in around it…i don’t think memorial tats are about living in the past, i see it as a way a lot of people can move on without feeling like they’ll forget, or like they are abandoning the memories, a way to honor the friendship and keep a piece of them with you forever…for me it is also a way to get the emotional pain channeled to physical pain as that is easier to endure. my tattoo is also filled with some of the things he wanted in his next tat, a full back piece, lady luck and the such but since i’m a girl i didn’t want to go that big so i chose the symbols he wanted worked into his tat. good luck with whatever you decide!

hmm, i want to be cautious and not put my body through too much shock definitely…would it help to do the tat first and go on how i feel? the tat artist and the piercer (different shops) both say it should be okay…lmao, i actually think i may take a pic or two, with the unpierced bits covered up maybe. idk if i’ll have the balls to post em but i think if i can cover everything else sufficiently a pic would be okay with me 😉

you ripped it out? ouch! i haven’t talked to anyone about them…its just what i’ve read so it could be wrong idk…i like the ones by the eye too, they’re cute. i was thinking maybe someday i’ll use a couple to add to a tattoo, sort of make it pop a little!
