This is the work up my friend has done on the back piece of a giant squid attacking a ship I mentioned possibly getting from him.

Here is what he came up with as an initial drawing:

I am seriously looking for your opinions on this. This is a lot more detailed and much bigger than any tattoo he’s ever done, but he is going to take it serious. I think he can pull it off, but I am looking for any suggestions for improvements. It would be all black and gray at first, possibly tinting the squid itself at a later date.

What do you think of the design? It’s a lot different than the source material linked above, but I think it works. Kind of old-school, classic sailor ink.

Come on, I don’t think it’s that bad. It is only his fifth tattoo. When he gets the money for more ink we’re going to color the skull in white, the guitar red, and the crown yellow. I am going to get a full back piece of a giant squid attacking a pirate ship from him in a few weeks.

Oh, and no, we’re not still in school.
