If you want something unique to you, make it about what your into – horror sleeves can look great – between you and the tattoist you’ve got to decide size placement colour etc – and give the artist a credit for knowing what will work and what won’t.
An aside is that you’ve got to spend the money – if your thinking about multiple tatts you should really get the artist in to work something out between you – nothing looks sweeter than a well thought out piece.
And make sure you spend enough time and money to get it done right.
I’ve had tat’s done by a total of three artists, it’s a bit of a toss up some of the work is better than others. The artist I currently use has got a great back catalogue, good judgement, flair for original designs, good rep, and isn’t a jaded back street type – he’s managed to rescue one dodgy design and personally – although I’d love to get some work done abroad I’d be happy to get some more work done by him – but I will shop around.
Thanks for the replies that does help hope it helps some others too.
Original desing – like the colours and reckon it should look great.
I’ve been told by the guy that tattoos me the way it goes – you’ve got to control your breathing -in hold line done – exhale – repeat. besides it being on bone you’ve got to concentrate on every line -so there’s no wandering off under the spots. He says his recent rib piece hurt like f***, hardcore.
Having said that – it’s a popular area for women some first time pieces.
It’s probably a personal pain threshold or peculiarity to individuals aswell – I nearly went there – but decided on the back piece – and that hurt enough for me.
no i didn’t get that sensation – the outline was pretty painful to the botom and at the top but after each line I’d forget the pain for a second before he started on the next. I don’t know how painful it rates for other people – I’ve had my upper left and lower left arm done and this was definately more painful.
Took 2 and 1/2 hrs with a couple of breaks, bit more painful than i thought, getting it coloures an hour at a time – decent prices too.
The redesign looks awesome
If I were you – And my advice is usually better than my actions would be an armageddon style sleeve – zombies – graves – angels and flaming swords, fire below- clouds and sun above the cross could be made to stand dout a little more – it’s got very little to do with john 15 13 but I can’t think of anything off the cuff, could try looking for some mythological characters norse, greek – maybe a spartan theme (bit like 300) yo could even go oriental if that’s your bag -bushido stuff – there’s plenty of material like that on the net – try google image search.
Ihad the same problem with a raven design a few years ago, esentially the problem is it’s to dark – even for shading – it’s a great idea but just wouldn’t work in ink – you’d get none of subtlety that makes the piece so good.
