😮 Ouch! Whoever this so called artist is, he isn’t that good.
Shading is all wrong not to mention looking way too dark.
Interested to see the final outcome once complete.Cheers,

Hey,
I definitely like all of these, well done!
#2 Eyes are killer for this picture, and when working with portraits, one small detail like that can mean disaster. You’re missing lighter shading and detail.
The right ear is also a good size bigger then the left one and stood out immediately.
Overall line work could be better in certain areas,…[Read more]

I’d say price wise for a talented artist minimum $85 or somewhere around there, but most likely pay around $120 – $150. It all depends, call some good shops and find out. My shop is a $75 min and $130 an hour.

Honestly, I’m with you, so many people say Ribs and chest are brutal, but everyone I know says that they are nothing and the one I have center chest was a cake walk. I’m sure many other areas are worse then those places.
Now, from my personal experience, the palm, and nothing has come close to feeling the way that did.

No doubt everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you can’t knock that the tattoo is well done. Honestly, how much detail do you think you’ll get in a very tiny skull. Completely understand that the piece just doesn’t do it for you and its not your thing, but the line work and colour are well done, and by a great artist too.

That’s exactly what I say when people ask. I don’t like to put restrictions on an artist. I do of course have some pieces that I will be getting for family and friends, that I will have some say in, but still will give the artist the freedom to design something kick ass.

No no, of course they have to okay it with me first, before they can start to tattoo me.

@hamster – I generally don’t choose nor do I design my tattoos. Whenever I get inked it’s complete freedom to the artist as I like most style of tattoos, excluding: tribal or anything perverted.

@Wardy – It’s a flower and the orange is just the background that the artist decided to go with.
Thanks everyone for the compliments, I love it.

As I said he was an apprentice, and he’s been tattooing for about 1.5 years now, still learning.

I’ve got no blow-outs. The artist who tattooed me use to be the shop owners apprentice and the bold lines is kind of what they do, it’s they’re style. All I know is all the line work is bang on and I love it. The photo is with my phone and on a bad angle, not kept that still either. Respect your input though. Once it heals I’ll be taking a better…[Read more]

Thanks
@Matthew – the thing with me is I don’t like to hinder any artist who tattoos me, I just give complete freedom, if I like what they sketch up then I get it. I will be going back to see if he actually can turn this leg into some sort of theme. I’ll find out in two weeks when I’m back down for the next area on this leg.

I can’t specifically tell you from my experience, but I can say that my artist has had his going on three years now and all the lines are perfect and he says they still look the same as the day he got them.
I work in manufacturing and i had maybe three small areas fade a bit during healing, but none the less it still looks good.
I should also…[Read more]

Got to agree with Adler, don’t really think that would translate well at all.
Personal opinion, way too much solid black.
