just gonna throw it in there… you know actually GETTING a tattoo by an artist is a very intimate thing, and you talk a LOT – this is a good way to build a relationship… just an idea

Yes, good point, it is. Unfortunately I absolutely cannot afford to get another tattoo, let alone the 3/4 sleeves I want

Thanks for the info chaps, much appreciated. I feel like I’m closer to landing an apprenticeship now!

I think this is a great idea for bonding with your daughter if it’s something you both are definitely set on ๐Ÿ˜€

I started getting tattooed at 15 (I looked a lot older and I don’t blame the shop). I still love them, no matter how blurry they get but part of me wishes that I had waited. My tastes and standards have changed over ten years.

You know how it goes! I just wanted one tattoo. Then one turned into two, two turned into four and so on and so on… Now I’m covered in piddly little tattoos that should have been approached in a different way. I want to cover them up one day with sleeves.

That’s one of the best hannyas I’ve ever seen, I love the placement and the way it fits round the shape of your calf! The shading and reflections are so beautiful and give it such a sense of depth and realism. Great piece, truly amazing work.

That is going to look absolutely superb when it’s done ๐Ÿ˜€ I love the colours they used in the flowers – they almost look like they’re glowing from the center. The shading all over is gorgeous.

Oh wow, I love this one ๐Ÿ™‚ I think if might say a lot about your sense of humour and the concept is fantastic. I can only imagine how the texture of the scarred skin adds something extra to how the tattoo looks and feels!

Hi and welcome.
I would love to see some of your portfolio work and there are many artists around on here who could critique it for you.

I’d love to ๐Ÿ™‚

Question: should I start a new thread for it elsewhere? Where’s best? ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey again Vak ๐Ÿ™‚

What kind of tats have you designed? Do you focus on any particular style? I’d love to know about your work ๐Ÿ˜€ Ah, you’re only up the road, we could probably go out for a beer sometime ๐Ÿ˜‰

Glad to hear you’re thinking of taking the proper route to become a tattoo artist.

Yes, you can post questions about how to get your apprenticeship or make yourself more desirable as an apprentice applicant. Questions about stuff like that and about how to create your portfolio/show it are completely fine.

Wow Awesome! Cheers Mr Biker, glad to hear it ๐Ÿ˜€ But I’m definitely not “thinking” about it – this is set in stone, 9000% sure this is what I want!

What a coincidence, I’m also from Belgium/Flanders and thinking of becoming a tattoo artist. Where do you live? I’m close to Antwerp…

… and I’ll go make my own introduction thread now before I hi-jack yours, I’ll see you around here ๐Ÿ™‚

Groetjes, buurvrouw! I live close to Gent so luckily we shouldn’t be competing against each other ๐Ÿ˜‰ But hijacking? Pffft, I’m happy to hear from anyone with similar interests, especially my Vlaams neighbours!
