Well that is going to depend entirely on your playing style. The thinner the string the thinner the sound. think about it. An electric guitar pick up is a coil of wire around a magnet. The string above changes the magnetic flux and modulates the coil producing your sound. If you have a thing string you get a small voltage. If you have a thick string you get more voltage.
The other thing to keep in mind is that thin strings tend to have a lot more over tones and upper harmonics. while the thicker ones have a much more bottom end.
So do you want to crunch or scream? That’s the choice. I personally I do use the Ernie Ball super Slinky’s as they are a nice compromise of low and high tones.
With the list you have there I would say the britts… But now if were talking Metal then I would have to say the Americans… Metalica rules..
The blame for wack music is the over abundance of independent labels. Unlike major labels, there is very little quality control on final production in independent production. Independents put out what THEY want to hear with little regard to their fans. They then solicit distribution deals from a major label. Major labels turn a deaf hear to the final product because they have just saved loads of money in production and A&R costs, so by distributing the CDs from a deal they already have in place it’s win-win for the major label. If major labels raised their standards with independent labels you’d get a better product, but when greed and lack of craftmanship (talent) is at the forefront we’ll continue to get what we get from the industry. Bottomline to fans: don’t buy BS.
Jim Morrison – very poetic and theatric in his work
