Well it’s on par with what I expected TBH. I like my arm well enough but reaching the artist proved such a challenge (not to mention trying to get a second piece from the same top-level guy) that part of the draw for this specific piece was the simplicity and proximity of the artist.
Let’s say I now have experimented both approach. I’ll see where my next idea brings me.
Yeah you may be right. Well for best or worse it’s with me now.
I guess I kind of overreacted, It’s not worthy of a picture in a magasine but it’s pretty much on par with what I could expect. I think my redened skin made it look awkward at first :
Yeah not my smartest move eitheir way. I just don’t want to have my tat and his work forever sitting in a forum thread with a comment of how i’m being disapointed.
I’ll let it heal (it’s really red at that time) a couple of days and post a meaningfull picture.
oh well I will not post that straight away… I might send it via PM though? if that helps
Ok just updating the thread. We finished the work last week, and it took another 4h to add all the details, the sky, and add light and volumes with white ink.
Kinda like the results:

I advise you compare it to the painting (here courtesy of wikipedia) it’s much more impressive.
Adding a couple of pics. I took these for a good friend who’s also an artist, although she hates the concept of tattooing and most tattoos she’s came accross. She liked this one, however (she may have said that out of niceness but she’s not really that kind of person).
The artist told me he had another 3 hours of work to finish this one (!) which would bring it to 9h just for the arm. He said I was forbidden to even think of another tattoo until he got to finish this one! He’s really cool and likes his work.

My favorite part is her breast. The shading and details are terrific.
not at all. These people arround me with a lot of experience in the field certainly do help with the details tho.
I have reasons to get one (and more) that are beyond that. Not sure I can go in details about it. Let’s say I wana do that much for myself.
I will pay a seasoned tattooer to get a very nice tatoo I have in mind. Problem is it might be a rather large piece of art and I’m not sure a large tattoo with a probable long session is the best way to start. I’m trying to think about something smaller I could start with.
