Thanks all, going back under the needle after Christmas for the back of the leg, thinking a light house. Something like this, in color of course. (By the way not my artwork, I found it on google – props to the artist)

First off – no one should get a tattoo for anyone except them self, so if you like it and are happy then fuck off what anyone else says 😉 however you came here asking for feedback. The anchor – I have seen this done many styles/sizes/places.. Being that its so simple it needs to be perfect. Being blunt, its wonky allot more care could of gone into this. The feather- personally I’m not a fan of this style. I think the choice of colors are not bad but the artist did not take the time to finish it properly. More detail could of gone into it ( a little more care ) Good thing is if you go to a good artist they can fix that feather right up 🙂

Thanks for the reply! Trust me I was hoping tattoos like this hold up, and I know advances in materials proly play a big part in that. Just wanted to kinda get a feel from other “People” and not the artist ya know. Old skool artist are always poo pooing the new school styles and the New style artist are always just saying “that’s the old skool way/style ” There are a few artist I have in mind, Nikko being one of them, Roman Abrego. Correct me if I am wrong but there considered “Celebrity” artists, yea? Year long waiting list and rather expensive. Don’t get me wrong I know the old saying you get what you pay for, but I know there has to be really good artist out there trying to get there art work seen that don’t have the year long waiting list and 500$ min deposits 🙂 Any suggestions for color realism artist in Orange county?

Well I am talking about line work. He uses shades of lots of colors. Iono maybe I am just over thinking it. Color looks super sick right after its done but all color fades. When you use so many shades of color in “color realism” style tattoos. Some of the color shading is so light to achieve the look he is going for. See the example below. Its SICK SICK artwork and a awesome tat, a tat I would love to have. But notice how there is very little line work, you can see the dark black shadow that defines the cheek but uptowards the top where the orangish hair is. The right side looks like it will hold up better over time than the left. Again, I still think its top notch work. We just contemplating my next “Style” xD

So you’d rather go with someone who can do the work quickly than wait for a piece that will make people drool with envy? Not this kid, bro. I’d wait five years if I had the cash and a great big hard on for the artist’s work. Again, just sayin.

No I agree, but 2.5 years to get my first tattoo ( when Im already 28 ) is a bummer 🙁 If It is 2.5 years I wil proly get a diferent tattoo for now and wait to do this idea..
