I think it turned out much better IMO… in terms of matching the reference photo.  The 1st one took your painterly looking tree and turned it in to flash art, the coverup definitely looks more like your reference pic.  It’s certainly not some amazing tree, but I think he did okay matching the fuzzy tree in the reference…I think everyone is assuming the artist should have taken the reference photo and spruced it up a bit.
Ha i do like both artists though… We’ll see. I’ll keep you posted!
Appreciate the info… I’ve got some deciding to do! I’ll upload a pic once I get something, it could be a while. Looking to have John Barrett do an Oregon inspired river/nature piece, but Lianne Moule will be in Oregon on May, so that’s who I’m considering for a rose. Although she’s only here 1 day so no guarantee that I’ll get in with her anyway. Just a whole lot more convenient to stay in OR…lol.
All great points… thanks. I’ve been thinking about this for over a year and Silvano has always been my front runner… doesn’t help that he’s booked out 18 months and a $1000+ flight away…ha. I do like the idea of contacting multiple artists too, def wanna have them excited to take the project on. Thanks again.

Good luck nailing Russ down. I want to see the new shop….Preferably at an appt. But I’m not holding my breath.
I’m not sure exactly when I’ll get it, but sometime in the next few years. I think he goes to the Portland, OR tattoo expo, so that’s where I’d try and catch him.

so I talked to this Doctor today & found some good info, Home | Laser & SkinLaser & Skin
this office is the only one in this entire area that has a picosecond machine (which is the latest & greatest, from what I have read)
of course we all have read that black goes away the best, blues & greens are harder to treat,
it is $50 consultation(which is applied to treatment),
$250 minimum,and $250 for about a 2″ x 2″ area,
I made an app for the consult to start some treatment.
Mine was about 6″x4″ and it was $175 per session. Is yours expensive because Cali is expensive in general or is that machine costing way more? Laser Hair Removal | Laser Tattoo Removal | AFFIRM
That’s where I went in Oregon. I didn’t realize pricing would vary so greatly.
I’m no expert, but I did do a laser session last year. I went to a place in the US with the most up to date technology, so I presume it’d be similar. The laser is very accurate and hits your skin in little spots. Then again, I wasn’t lasering between other pieces =). So I bet it depends on how good the person is with the laser.
I waited 3 months. It continues to lighten over time, so the sooner you do your tattoo the higher the chances are it’d lighten over time.
As for # of sessions, each session takes away about 50% of the tattoo (I did 2 sessions and the lady said if I did a 3rd it wouldn’t make a big difference). So as you increase sessions, the amount of a difference it makes decreases. Maybe you already knew this, but I figured I’d throw it out there given my recent experience!
You can be perfectly happy with who you are and still learn more about the topics… No matter how content you are there is always room to improve your life.
I do apologize if it came across the wrong way, as I was simply recommending some great books.
Hey I was reading the thread and had 2 books to recommend. Sorry I’m diverting away from the sexual conversation ; )
The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman: Timothy Ferriss: 9780307463630: Amazon.com: Books – I did one of the diets in this book. Although it’s not a lifelong type of diet, I was able to take bits and pieces from it and apply it to my regular diet after getting off of it. The book is set up so that you aren’t supposed to just read the whole thing, rather you’re supposed to pick and choose the sections that apply to you. I’d recommend buying it or getting from your library! I’d also recommend buying a regular unbiased (no diets) book on nutrition.
Being Happy!: Andrew Matthews: 0078814028688: Amazon.com: Books – “Being Happy”- While the title might sound like it’s for a depressed person, it certainly isn’t. I saw someone post it on Facebook so I read it. It’s a really short read and helps provide a different perspective on life!
Let me know if any of you have read either of these!
What do you do for a living? Just curious, as you seem to be traveling and getting new tattoos all the time. You must be doing real well!
It does seem rather conceited to get a tattoo of yourself, but whatever floats your boat 😎
