Not all bands are crappy and emo. I used to think the way you did (and we have similar tastes- radiohead, the strokes, pearl jam, shins) but i have discovered a lot of good music. Its definitely not on the surface but its there. Message me if u need recommendations.
1. I dig people who can spell (intellect is a good thing…)
2. Musical talent isn’t really a quality I go out searching for in a guy. If its there, its there. If its not, then its not.
3. Nobody wants somebody who tries really hard. Just chill out a bit…
Isn’t it official that Jimi has the title?
The Knitting Factory.
I’ve lived here all my life and have gone there countless times to see my friends bands, as well as local bands perform.. its great. I think its on Leonard Street, around Houston St.
I mean the biggest sell out for the Doors was Light my Fire.
As for current music, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their latest album was so horrible…and yet they got so much airplay for it ..hmm…
beatles

grrrr you’ll grow out of this phase one day….
I would consider the Killers pop music, not indie.
Musically, the two genres are extremely different. Emo uses a lot of kind of hard rock guitar riffs except you can barely hear it because the singer is usually screeching/screaming..not singing. Other emo, like Dashboard Confessional is strictly acoustic.
Indie gets its roots more from alternative/grunge/prog rock. Really modern indie bands use more and more of an electronic sound.

1. No acoustic guitars. If you do use acoustic try to make it more Beach Boys rather than …whats the name of that band…Dashboard.
2. If you get a male singer, make sure he sounds like a man.
3. No screeching in the vocals.
4. Just follow your inspirations
