To clean up the shading it will end up being much darker, although that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Just beware of over doing it. And definetly go to someone else. That part of the body is hard to work on and if they couldn’t pull it off the first time then there’s no hope for the second time. Especially those lines. Color could help smooth out…[Read more]

Thanks! I was nervous as hell, but it came out fantastic! I’ve gathered here that Kanji is one step above a tribal arm band on the tattoo heirarchy, but it was a great way for me to put a bunch of concepts and important things together in one piece. Since this was my first (and probably only) ink, I wanted it to be…[Read more] -

Sounds like scar to me. Got a pic you could post? My general rule is 2 weeks for a touch up and 90% of the time they are completely healed by then. Unless there is a rough healing spot like where the elbow bends, or they wear clothes that cut across it or they don’t wash it or something. Those rough spots will sometimes take six weeks to heal…[Read more]

I think a stormy night lighthouse instead of a bright sunlit lighthouse would be cool. Something where you could see the beam and storm clouds and waves and ocean spray. Lots of motion.

Better quality for the same price sounds like a winner.

There is a program called cam studio that allows you to record your screen and its free. Just Google it.

You may also want to film your self going to her site so the court can see what you saw. Otherwise she may change the site and say the picture was posted as an “inspiration piece” of something she would “like to do in the future”.

I hope that artist isn’t saying he or she is a professional. Are they a friend of yours or something. Or did they have a great bedside manner. I’ve known guys the couldn’t tattoo worth shit but got away with it AND charged more than any body else I have ever known, just because of their pleasant attitude. Nothing that artist you went to does at…[Read more]

That sounds like scar tissue to me. Dead skin doesn’t hang around for 6 months. You can try rubbing vitamin E oil into it. It might take several months of rubbing it in every day, but it is supposed to break down scar tissue. I’ve also heard emu oil is even better, but a little harder to find. Try a health food store like Vitamin Cottage. The…[Read more]

Holy crap, I didn’t really think anybody would actually pinpoint where she got it from. Good work.

I agree with bluey. At least 4 hours. And that’s a real basic design with the artist putting a reasonable amount of effort into it.

I have seen people walk into a shop looking for a job with a portfolio full of images grabbed right off the internet. We caught them because they happened to use pictures of tattoos done by a friend of one of our artists. You should have seen the look on his face when we brought up the website he had pilfered from right there in the interview.…[Read more]

Most likely all you did was damage the skin enough to blur it a little which sucks but isn’t the end of the world. Unless you actually sunburned it enough to loose skin layers, in which case your ink is not settled as deep as it would be after a couple of months and you may loose some of it. If you sunburn a fresh tattoo you can get an infection…[Read more]

replied to the topic what style is this? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 13 years, 3 months ago
Could even be a variation on an inuit style. Or polynesian. Either way, all those pics are of modernized versions of the original styles. You could call them “neo-polynesian” or something like that. The true traditional styles are usually much plainer because of the tattoo technique they had to use.

I’ve seen the two sides of an incision heal with the lines being off as much as a inch and a half with no hope of repair. That whole mess would be on the guy stitching you up and if he feels like taking the time and effort to line it all up again for you. I am a realism artist and I can tell you it totally depends on the artist as to what they can…[Read more]

My take on that is:
Body heat = incubator
Blood plasma = bacteria chow
Plastic covering = petri dish
4 or 5 days = plenty of time to grow a huge colony of nastiness. -

I concur. Sounds like a blow out to me. Hard to say without seeing it. A blow out happens when they penetrate too deep to the layer that isn’t attached to the layer below it (5th or 6th I think?). This is not usually fixable with a touch up. Also, the tattoo should peel at about day 5 or 6. This should just be the top couple of layers of dead skin…[Read more]
