as long as you aren’t going over the same spot, you’ll be fine. Its not like the ink is toxic and you have to wait for your system to pass it. If its close to the last place you got ink, its gonna hurt cause its sensitive. But if its in a completely different place, it should be fine (just one more place to not scratch and make sure it heals right).

Its not bad as long as the artist isn’t heavy handed. I tattooed my own forearm, workin on the whole half sleeve. If I can do it to myself with no pain at all, you should be fine… unless you are a wimp or the artist doesn’t like you very much.

I’m kinda gonna have to go against the crowd here man. That thing is basically a half-assed tribal that’ll look a helluva lot better on paper than on you. Frankly, I’ve seen at least a dozen similar tattoos on people, and they universally look like crap, regardless of the artist.

But, hey, if you want a crappy jock tattoo, go for it man!

Love. Peace. Metallica.

Good to see some honesty. That design really isn’t much of anything. There isn’t any real movement with it, like it doesn’t make you feel like you are being moved. Its general and generic.

all of my tattoos get dull looking after the first week then when fully healed (about 2 and a half weeks) they brighten right back up.

But itching is normal, I think the glossy is part of picking at it when its not supposed to be… but it all varies.

He should ask his doctor about rotary machines and/or pneumatic tattoo machines. I’m positive about the pneumatics, as they are run by an air compressor and have no electrical components…not too sure about the rotary though, because from what Ive seen, they DO have electrical components and a small motor, what im not sure of is if it is like the electromagnetic cycle of a standard coil machine or not…

regardless, there is hope for your brother and getting his tattoo finished.

If he goes the pneumatic route, he’ll be fine, its just compressed air running the motor. Good luck on finding someone who can use one and has one though. If you’re in the Ventura/LA area, check out Red,White, and Blue, they have ’em set up.

I try not to judge, but I can’t help but think you shouldn’t ever touch a tattoo gun again

Not to be a jerk, but I agree. Tattooing is an art, if you can’t draw, what makes you think you can tattoo? Its not like its fixing a light or changing bed sheets, its art and its on someones skin!

But for the record, too deep, and you aren’t following the contours of the body.

Kool stuff!! Welcome to the forum. I don’t know if you’re aware but we don’t allow any discussion about tattooing techniques or advice. The only way you can discuss these topics is by submitting your tat licensce/permit and joining the artist forum section. There is a thread about this If you have anymore questions. Otherwise take a look around and feel free to post pix at any time!! Again welcome to the forum!

That’s pretty weak, what about apprentices? Are they subject to fail and be left behind because some one doesn’t have “health code validation”? Thanks, but delete my account. I am an artist and I want to learn and help others learn. Rather not be a part of some forum where people want to keep shit to themselves based on that they have a certificate. Read about Outsider Art sometime… some of the best Artist have no need for validation.

make sure you put it on in the correct direction because it was stolen from the Hindu religion and is a sign for good luck and they you would be representing them instead of your Owen ignorance. 😉

That symbol is a religious anomaly. Its just like the star or a cross. The original meaning for the Germanic and Nordic tribes was of the sun/ sunwheel or the turning sun. Its original name is the hakenkreuz… it was never stolen from anyone.

If he wants it, go for it. I’ve inked ’em on people before. Skinheads get ’em and so do a lot of Buddhist.

I’m second generation American immigrated from Germany, this symbol has a lot of meaning to my people and its not because of the war. My family is Wotanist and it has a lot of history with us. It was also used traditionally to mark graves in Finland and Scandinavia. They’ve found them on graves in China as well from when Nordic tribes traded with Asia.
