Try looking at some of the horrendous reactions to pigments after a few years under the skin! especially blues and reds. There’s no regulations really to what we can put under our skin but lots of stuff to stop us putting stuff onto our skin! Oh the irony! I think once the cancers start to become more apparent with all the synthetic stuff coming from plastics, hydrocarbons, maybe we’ll wake up and go back to the natural pigments that used to be the norm and have stood the test of time ๐
Hey fellas am kicking 50 this year and when i was first tattooed over thirty year ago and up until only a few years ago, (about 11yrs), nothing was used or recommended. You just put up with the itch and if you did pick at them then you would suffer the wrath of the artist for ruining his work making spaces in his ink where the scabs were picked and ink removed. In the last ten year there has need a profusion of recommendations and contradictions of what is best. In my own experience the less products the better the outcome. My ink in the last ten years is as vibrant as ever and i use only one product called “tattoo aftercare” (TAC) which is made in scotland. This stuff is used by Britain’s top artists including Louis Molloy, he’s the head honcho of the TV show London Ink and is probably the UK’s most famous artist, (he tattoos David and Victoria Beckham, wonder if that helped? lol). But seriously this a is a guy with over 25yrs experience tattooing so if he say s its the best he’s come across then am there ๐ OOPs! forgot to leave a link so here it is http://www.tattooaftercare.co.uk
Tattoo Aftercare (TAC) http://www.tattooaftercare.co.uk I use this now for everything. As their slogan says Soothe Moisturise Maintain and it has worked for me every time. My ink has all healed in under a week and it can be used to freshen up ink before going out, moisturising the skin. It was also very good at healing up a cold sore i had in only a few days and its all natural. ๐
Anti biotoc cream should only be used if infection is there and should never be used on the first day. Check what a doctor has to say about Polysporin etc on Wikipedia. Hope this helps, keep in natural if you can and use nothing wiht paraben preservatives, they could cause you problems later in life. They may have for a lot of ppl already. ๐ฎ
Sherav, Bep has Lanolin, extracted from sheeps wool, in it. It also has a couple of waxy alcohols in it too. I wonder if it will fade ink in a few years due to the alcohols diluting the already diluted colors! Time will tell, but I suppose it will keep the artits in work having to rework their faded work! My youngest daughter, (step daughter), was horrified when she found out ppl were using bep for wounds, she’d never use it on any cuts or grazes on her son other than his behind lol, Thats what its made for dad she says. What are they doing dad? who decided to use this stuff?? its not a healing cream! its a barrier cream, clever girl my daughter ๐ And as cool as that! How cool? THAT COOL ๐
lol NO! thet have not been tarred with the same brush as me! They got their mum’s lovely soft skin type ๐
Yup jus call me spotty dick lol, its not by the way! I mean my dick bein spotty lol ๐ฎ Funny that that in all my years of having this fekn skin condition my knob has never been affected in any way! ๐ I got two kids to prove it too, fruit of my loins lol ๐ ๐
Yes right on Supermario! Nutural is the only way to go for me now. I found a producvt called Tattoo Aftercare (TAC) a few years back. it worked great on my inkwork and healed in under a week and it soothed my eczema too :D. I have not used steroid creams for years now since finding this stuff and they were once the norm for my skin, (I look like a polka dot glove with no clothes on lol ๐ฎ due to life long use of steroid creams, my white bits are WHITE due to pigment loss all over my body), not a pretty sight lol ๐ฎ But use this stuff now daily to moisturise my skin and it has worked wonders for me every day :).
I tried aloe neet and it was a bit harsh for my skin but it has worked wonders for a lot of people. I am a bit unsure about applying a stick over new ink as if there is any sort of mild infection which can be hard to detect in its early stages then it will be added onto the stick too, cross contanination , and i’d be reapplying infection . Just a thought as i have very sensitive skin! ๐ฎ
thats a nice piece you getting there, it’ll look stunning am sure once colored ๐
I tried bepanthen and came out in a rash, didn’t know it had lanolin in it which i am allergic 2. Am using since then TAC (tattoo aftercare) it is fekn amazing stuff and it helps soothe my eczema, aint used steroid creams for it for ages now! works on my dry lips too lol multi purpose for me. Check them out http://www.tattooaftercare.co.uk now where’s my jar gone? bloody kids again! ๐ก lol ๐
Thanks for the link I’ll check it out. Your right, our ink is with us for life and i too want mine looking as good as the day it was put there and so far all seems well. Too late a few years down the road when tata are jaded and faded due to the initial stages of healing not being look at properly. I think though that once the health and safety boyz an girlz get involved, and they surely will, they’ll be shocked at some of the stuff being recommended to be used on broken skin, then the shit will defo hit the preverbial fan. ๐
I agree with mohawk19 most artists need educating about aftercare of the skin. I my own experience i have been recommended to use hemorroid cream and nappy rash cream, WTF? My first tat tried hemorroid cream and it nipped like hell so dumped the tube and went and looked around for sumthin else that was natural. Found TAC (tattoo aftercare) on ther internet and the name kind of speaks for itself. Next tat the artist recommended nappy rash cream, raved about it being all he recommended now. Bought a tube of bepanthen, smells urgh! made for use on baby’s arses, enuf said , tried a bit but came out in a rash aaaaaaaargh! Looked at ingredients and fek me it contains lanolin am allergic to lanolin. Bepanthen also has two alcohols in it! why would an artist recommend something with alcohol in it, do they know this? could alcohol not effect the long term look of my colors, dilute them?? fek that! went back to the internet and ordered my jar of TAC from scotland. check these guys out ppl tattooaftercare.co.uk ๐ now i want some more ink lol ๐
Use a high sun factor from one of the companies that specialise in the field. They have a background and will have the best products for the job. Tattoos will fade in sunlight especially red, blue, yellow. I have experienced this first hand when I did not apply my sun screen over the years. My multi coloured tattoo went from vibrant reds yellow and blues to just outline and the green ink all other colours were gone! I began getting inked again a few years ago and this time round I use high factor sun block on all my ink and hopefully they will now stay as vibrant as when first done, well I hope they do lol ๐
I gree with the above, keep off face and neck. And if your doing a good job and they are seem then you’ll have your work done to back you. I like to hope as more and more get ink attitudes will change :confused ๐ here’s hoping ๐ Good luck with the job hunting ๐
