Go back to your tattoo parlor and get their advice. I have 5 tattoos and all I have ever used after is Lubriderm lotion. I’m usually done with the peeling, etc. after a week. Well you kind of answered your own question. If you know you have a bad track record of changing your mind then I would definitely hold off a few months.
Not only that but I agree that sometimes when you have what you think is a good idea and sit on it, you keep thinking it over and make it an even better idea. No harm in waiting a bit.
