Thanks for offering that you’re straight. That makes a big difference in the placement of the tattoo. I’d say you’re fine. No gay guy would be seen with a tramp stamp 🙂

Here are two quick shots of the seventh and final sessions. It took 22 hours in total, and we did it in 10 weeks. I’m quite happy with the results. I don’t have a pic right now of the inside of the arm, but I’ll get it up here soon.

A glimpse of the work done during the 4th session of my totem pole sleeve. I’m 13.5 hours in at this point. There’s a lot you haven’t seen yet (session 3), but I sure am digging how the whole thing is coming together. I hope you do to. Sorry for the low-grade pic, from my Android….when it’s all done, I’ll get the good camera fired up.

This answers about 60 percent (or more) of the posts in this forum. I agree with you. I researched for a year to find the right tattooer to work with for my sleeve. I have a co-worker who is a basement tattooer, and he desparately wanted to sleeve me out. No thanks.

I wore a long sleeve T to bed. In the morning, the plasma stuck to a few spots on the t-shirt. Rather than pull the T-shirt off the scabs, I jumped in the shower with the shirt on so the water would loosen it. Someone gave me that hint, and it was a real help. It’s better than getting stuck to a sheet and ripping the scab.

I like the look. It’s well done. If you’re like me, you’re already planning the next one in the back of your mind.

Here’s the results of my second sitting. Now I’m 7.5 hours in. What is the deal with that bruising? Is that normal? I guess I should expect that, I bruise if a pine cone falls of a tree and hits me. Anyway, we’re doing shading inside the totem pole next.

No thoughts on the rest of the sleeve idea? I’m heading in for more ink tomorrow.

Here is a very rough sketch that I did of an idea I have for sleeving out this arm. It’s hard to see, as it’s done with pencil. It’s a sunset over a mountain with buffalo/reflection over a lake. I would be interested in hearing your opinion about adding this to the existing totem pole. I am not a tattoo expert, but I think it could look pretty…[Read more]

While I’m pondering the idea of sleeving it out, what ideas do you all have that would not detract from the totem pole itself? I was thinking a nature scape with tepee, lake, fire, foreground; mountain, buffalo mid; into a night sky with some image in the smoke…I have lots of ideas, but I just don’t know what will work and not contrast too…[Read more]

Looking over this for the past 48 hours now, I can see one small spot of “blow out”, up near my neck at end of wing (not visible on pic). Can this be taken care of in shading/coloring? Other than that, my multiple inspections yield some pretty clean lines. I’m delighted.

My tattooer and I have several awesome ideas to expland this to a sleeve, but I think that will be down the road. I like this piece alone as it is (well, when the shading and color are complete). It’s definitely a possibility, though.

I was so satisfied with working with Roman. I agree that some of the lines are “wonky”, but now that I’ve experienced this with him, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The experience was amazing, and I’m proud to carry one of his pieces. I’m going back three weeks from tonight for shading, then later adding color.

And just what is it’s true meaning? Perception is reality, and people have pretty strong perceptions of the swastika. Do you want to spend the rest of your life justifying it and “enlightening” people?
