If you take really good care of it, I’d say about 2-3 weeks minimum. I changed mine to a smaller stud after about 2 1/2 weeks.

I love mine. I play saxophone and as soon as the swelling went down (about 2 weeks), I could play just as good as before. It’s on the left side. At concerts I put a small star shaped stud in and no one ever notices it.
