i agree that its personal preference. an artist would have to be confident and focused enough to handle any such distractions like you described. personally i would prefer indoors because like you said it’s more sterile, less distractions, and better one on one time with your artist.

i would say make them asymmetrical. that would keep a nice balance and an even flow to the piece

ok so i’ve taken the survey. i see where alot of people would be upset about it. and a part of me is as well. but i also understand that these things need to be asked to change the over all view of “us” as tattoed people. i do believe that some of those questions could have been worded a bit differently though. less toe-stepping perhaps
