haha sorry to bring negativity to your morning DOJAGUY. But everyone CAN afford good work… some people might just have to save their money for longer to afford it. I’d rather save for a year and get a very nice tattoo than to go to the nearest tattoo shop and spend $100 on a tattoo that isn’t good.
But all that matters is if you’re happy with it. I mean… it is your tattoo after all.
do yourself a favor and go to a different artist next time.
The second artist is much better. Not saying that the first one is bad but the second artist captures color, shading, and lighting much better than the first. The first one is not a scratcher by any means but that second link has some of the best tattoos i have seen in a while.
By the way things that make a tattoo good vs bad…
1. Line work. Shitty tattoos have shaky lines.
2. Shading. If the shading is off the whole tattoo is off.
3. Lighting. The lighting, especially in a big piece, can really make or break a tattoo.
leave it just the way it is. thats a great piece any color could potentially take away from it and thats a phenominal tattoo as it is. Just my opinion though. If youre looking to get some sort of “chrome” effect go back and maybe the artist can add some white highlights but otherwise id leave it alone and show it off as it is.
yeah get it covered up. its light and shouldnt be too much of a problem for a good artist to cover. get something pleasent and less generic if you want something that isn’t “boring and plain”. Just my thought.
I really like it. I’ve always been a fan of tradtitional panther head/tiger head tattoos and this one seems to be well done. Congrats on some cool ink
ha if you thought it was going to turn out bad why would you even consider getting it done?? Overall its a decent tattoo if you like it that’s all that matters
as far as coloring the background/smoke i think that most people would agree that traditional japanese tattoos have black and grey backgrounds when it comes to the wind and smoke. Also for the design, i love the idea that you’re going for but i think that if you had the dragon encircling the tiger it could take away from the flow of the piece. Great idea, bring it to an artist and see what they can do for you.
thanks for all the responses. As far as being complete, I have one more session for an hour to add some doves and touch up some lines. Im keeping it a half sleeve for now until i know what kind of job I will be getting after college etc. And the skull does not have an ear, its just a poor angle its just a regular skull. Thanks for all the feedback!
i think that instead of a chinese character meaning tiger you should get an actual tiger piece. If it was done well it would be more pleasing to the eye and people would know what it meant! But if you insist on a chinese character there isnt too many original ideas seeing as how it has all been done before. maybe make it look like a brush stroke or somthin?
i think that if you think you’re not going to like it over the years then you should reconsider getting a tattoo in the first place. Its something you will have forever so get something that you think you will like forever plain and simple! Thats just my thoughts.
haha ive had the urge for a while aswell, its been 6 months since my last tat but im goin in for a nice session today! when the pain kicks in ill sit through it for all the tattoo conosours that cant get ink and maybe thatll help haha
thanks guys. I’ll be bringing in the reference picture to my artist soon. I appreciate the input !
Any other ideas though, maybe for the underarm, or tricep area?
The tattoo itself seems to be well done, but it does seem to be in an odd location. Maybe once you have the whole sleeve done it will look better where it is. Im not a huge fan of the strands of hair or whatever that is but the rest looks good. How long did you sit for that?
thanks for all the feedback everyone! My artist is schmitty from schmittys tatoos (http://schmittystattoos.com). Im going in for another session in a few weeks to get some background work done. Should be another 2 hour sitting then itll be done.
