Hello and welcome 🙂
I’ve only been here a little while, but found it to be the perfect place…
The biggest thing with the tattoo is keeping it clean and healthy.
If you’re not going to sweat to much (as in doing a massive session) it should be ok, but personally I’ve always waited a minimum of a week sometimes two before I get back into things.
Mostly because I want the tattoo to heal and be as crisp as possible, but also because I tend to scab a little as I heal so would rather wait till that’s sorted than inflict it on my training partners or randoms at the gym.
Cheers for the input – I guess at the end of the day, the main reasoning for placement is for feng shui and a belief that they are somehow mystic creatures – which I don’t really subscribe to so it shouldn’t be to much of an issue.
I have to wait a bit to get the first piece of the sleeve coloured then will get my artist to draw up a fo dog that goes with the rest of the design 🙂
Again – thanks for the input.
I took two weeks away from muay thai after my latest tattoo.
Being covered in sweat, shirt rubbing and possibly dropping skin everywhere (if you flake up when healing) isn’t ideal for a tattoo or for your training partners.
Take at least a week, unless you are training for competition in the near future.
A week won’t hurt your training.
Just finished 2 hours of shading and highlights, next session will be colour then working on the inner bicep to transform the piece to a half sleeve.
It’s still fairly fresh and not cleaned 100% in this pic so will get a couple more later on:
That’s very true I guess – I have just always liked a longer session, I think it’s because I’m impatient and want the finished artwork quicker 😉
Cheers all – getting some more work done tomorrow so will add new photos when its done.
Only another 2.5 hour session unfortunately but that will still get a heap done.
Can’t learner restrictions otherwise I would.
Yamaha is the biggest cruiser I can get for two years.
If I had only got a bike license when I got a car license it would be all good.
I drive a 2010 Forester XT, 1986 Supra MKIII and about to buy a Yamaha XVS650 until I can get a harley 🙂
Cheers all 🙂 I’ll post more pics when I get the next session done in two weeks.
It will probably be 1 – 2 sessions a month till the sleeve is done.
Then I can work on the other side and my ribs 😉
And no problems on the coward vs forward – I figured it was some sort of autocorrect magic.
Thanks for making another version available. Filled in 🙂
Hello and welcome. You’re right tattoos are beyond addictive. Feel free to post up some pics or a description of your current tattoo 🙂
I work in IT in the oil and gas industry.
Been in the IT field for the last 15 years :S
Sometimes I wish I had gone to a different field such as the fitness industry or to psychology.
I have fairly large lettering on the inside of my bicep and the only section that was a little annoying was up close to my armpit.
It wasn’t really that painful (but so far I haven’t thought any of my tats that bad), it does come down to the individual though.
Based on GrayCatLove’s rating of 4/10 for me it was probably closer to around 3/10 until near the armpit then it got to maybe a 4.5/10
As promised my first tattoo:
I am booked in to have a whole sleeve done on this arm, starting on the 31st March.
It will be a fusion of three styles, Traditional Japanese koi with a twist (Can’t say much until it’s done) down to elbow, then bio-organic to the wrist. The twist is in the Koi that while it might be on a traditional background, it’s not a traditional Koi 🙂
Once I get it started I’ll put more pics up.
