If you are thinking of admiring it yourself (for many, many years), placement and orientation should be so that you can comfortably see it. If for ornamentation for other’s view, the leg would probably work, but it doesn’t need to be very large. It is simple enough to fit most anywhere (arm, foot, behind ear).

Tastes and opinions are individual. Quality is universal. If you get text, I would think quality requires even sizing, spacing, slant and thickness. Spell-checking prevents major uh-ohs. Checking the sketch and stencil (don’t allow free-hand text) closely, have someone else check them. My personal preference in fonts is something legible. Not…[Read more]

Does it all get color? Honestly, your skin tone is so uniform that it makes her face perfect. The art is wonderful, but you are to be congratulated for maintaining the background so well (well, and genetics helps a bit).

I have to admit it stung a bit more than the first time. She really went over it well and it looked even bolder in the shop mirror than the first time. The bandage still has 15 minutes before it comes off and I wash it. I’ll take a photo after it dries and before I put her after-care on.
And… the result::)

Just a quick update. Going in today for a touch-up of the drop-shadow under the patrol pin and the bow on the patrol pin where the very thin line has faded to no line. I’ll not ask for work on the stars unless she asks about it, because they are no more than about 2mm across, and I can’t really expect much improvement in such a small spot. I put…[Read more]

You should have seen one removed by rock salt dermabrasion. I saw one removed that way in the Navy once. And they take just as many sessions (very bloody sessions). Probably the main reason I waited until almost 62 for my first tattoo!

$150 may seem like a lot for 3 minutes, but when you figure in the cost of the equipment and training to use it, not so much. I’ve read of $400 (and up!) sessions at dermatologists that were no bigger. They have much more overhead (and profit margin), though.
So, what did it feel right like after? And, did they use any numbing agent?
Honestly,…[Read more]

By my understanding, tattoos are very forbidden in Islam. In fact, that is the main reason that I am planning to delay one tattoo that I have planned, as I teach many international students in my work, and I do not want to offend any of them with a visible tattoo.
I fear that you are either baiting this forum, or dealing with a very dangerous…[Read more]

Nice theme. Good color mix – not all blue/white/black. Pleasing to my eye, but I’m not an expert.

Just a note to make the next one even better (for me at least). Add a clock in the corner showing actual elapsed time.

BW’s fish swimming upstream is brilliant (guess I’ve not read enough of his posts yet to expect it). If not a koi, how about a rainbow trout swimming upstream? Beautiful fish, heroic fighter, adaptable to salt (called a steelhead salmon) or fresh water.

Because I ride the motorcycle so much, I have pretty much culled my underoos down to microfiber boxer briefs. Some with, some without the fly. Without the fly I go down through the leg. With mesh armored pants, jeans or other pants under that, then the underoos, I better make it there in plenty of time! Even worse in the winter when I add…[Read more]

I kinda liked it up to the blue tendrils (drool?) from the tongue. I’d also like to see more variation in the brown.

Thanks for the comments, both + and -. I had not noticed the line weight issue (hard to see from above or in a mirror, but evident in the photo). It is giving no grief at all in healing so far. Nor is the pierced nipple below it that she did a couple months ago. Are the lines and stars worth a touch-up some day? Will it bleed out eventually and…[Read more]

I’m fully prepared for critiques, both gentle and brutal, but I’m VERY pleased! So little pain (hard to call it pain, really). It is 4″ (~10cm) wide, and yet the detail impresses me (including a subtle drop-shadow).

I think an Einstein saying like “religion without science is blind, science without religion is dead” with his likeness would do nicely. Or another “nature hides her secrets because of her essential loftiness, not by means of ruse.”
