Oh dear, you need to narrow it down
You want A LOT, and that’s cool, you’re enthusiastic and have a lot of ideas – Not a bad thing!
You can fit a lot into a backpiece, but generally, doing TOO much, will just make it messy. What you’re talking about is a full bodysuit. No need to limit yourself, you can always make your entire body into a piece…[Read more] -

Your artist was 100% right about at least one thing; Making the skyline black will completely blur it out with the dragon. Bad idea.
paint splatter? WHY? Horrible idea. It MAY be salvageable, but you need one damn talented artist. Lasers remove everything.
Let it heal and try to learn more about tattoos. Look at PICTURES. And don’t go yelling at…[Read more] -

Oh wow. Both you and your artist made some pretty big mistakes with this one..
1) Your chosen design and images do NOT work well for tattoos. Especially such a small one.
2) Your artist should have said no to doing this tattoo in the first place. See reason 1. I can understand why he’s not posting any images.Digital art rarely transform nicely…[Read more]

replied to the topic Is this crooked or is it just swollen?? in the forum Tattoo Questions and Experiences 10 years ago
I don’t think it’s crooked, actually. Looks like it in the first pic, but the picture isn’t straight either.
In most of the pictures it looks straight, but it’s perfectly normal for a tattoo to be a bit swollen for the first few daysDon’t worry about it. Give it a week or so and have a friend take a look.

Oh my god I stayed in an apartment in Miami that had a 8-seat couch + 2 seat veeery similar to that but in grey. It felt like the most American thing ever, so weird. Extremely comfortable though!

Yeah I’d also cover it up… Honestly it’s just a bad tattoo. Sure, it would be slightly better if re-done, but still a bad tattoo.

uhm… You mean photoshop and printers/blueprint machines? Because there is absolutely no reason to re-draw a design just because it’s the wrong size.

Welcome!
Nice thesis idea. Was it a phd or masters? And in what field of study?
(I’m kind of assuming sociology?)
I’d be very interested in reading it! Considering doing my own masters thesis on visual representations of identity and the modernization of symbols (I did my BA project on the latter), tattoos would surely be a part of it. Always…[Read more] -

Deep? Right person? I’ve totally scored appointments and discounts based on being a perv!

I don’t really have a plan… I’m way too impulsive. But I have a rough idea of who I’d like to get tattooed by, and whenever I get an opportunity I reach out. Like at the last con when I was tattooed by both Remis and Torres, and had an offer from Domantas and Niki Nordberg, plus Tim Kern, Alexis Vaatete and a few others for London con. Really…[Read more]

replied to the topic Does anyone happen to know if tipping is customary in the Czech Republic? in the forum Tattoo Questions and Experiences 10 years ago
Depends a bit. Tipping is a strange thing in Europe, but when I was in czech republic I did tip at restaurants etc and it was fairly common, so it’s not completely out of the question. But if you can afford it and want to, do it! I’m sure it’s appreciated.

Based on these other post, I feel I should add something.
A friend of mine has severe burn scars all over her face, she will never look like herself ever again, as it covers her entire face. She got “Strength” tattooed on her wrist, and I could never disagree with a tattoo like that, even if I don’t like text tattoos. It was right for her. Always…[Read more] -

Well my first suggestion would be not to NOT start with tattooing your neck. I 100% promise you that people will assume based on the tattoo and the burns that you are a hardcore criminal. It sucks but that’s how it goes. Tattoos are a commitment, and I would advice you to start basically anywhere but your head first, get used to the tattoo but…[Read more]

Looks fine for being 4days old to me! Looks decently made too (can’t tell 100% due to scabs, but so far so good), a lot of people botch Vegvisir symbols.

replied to the topic Tattoos and aging, too much detail ? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 10 years ago
I quite recently saw a 5-6yr old realistic portrait done by an artist that is extremely talented, been mentioned on here several times as one of the best at realism. It looked like crap, to be honest. It was still a good tattoo, but it had not aged well, a lot of the details were gone, the softer colors had faded etc. However, I have heard that…[Read more]

replied to the topic Tattoos and aging, too much detail ? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 10 years ago
Depends on the artist and their experience as well. Some newbies make extremely detailed tattoos that look like shit after 2 years, some very experienced and talented artists make the most detailed, realistic pieces that look good after 10 years. Hyper realism is fairly new, only a few have been doing it for more than 5-6 yrs or so, so it’s kinda…[Read more]

Agree with Sam, except the 3-year thing, as a lot of those starting out as apprentices these days are insanely skilled artists already, and some now finish in as little as one year, average I’ve seen is about 2 years, depends on the apprentice and their art, those specializing in one type (realism etc) typically do shorter ones now.
But the one…[Read more]
