If you’ve settled on an artist they should be able to tell you how much lasering you need. They might also be the best people to recommend a clinic to you if they do a lot of cover up work.

I was recommended Bepanthen cream, which worked wonders. It will peel after a bit, important thing is not to pick it. If you do have any gaps the tattooist should fill them in if you go back.

Fortunately though it’s gone wrong this time, it’s a tattoo that can be covered up. Maybe go for something bigger and bolder next time? …but save up in the meantime and choose your next artist carefully!

We’re getting a little off topic as the question is not whether the tattoo is good, but at what stage an artist will be able to work with the arm once removal treatment is underway and roughly what price I’ll have to pay to get it to that stage.

Cheers yeah, am thinking a sleeve for my other arm too once I know I can afford it – am very keen on a tiger and something else I haven’t quite settled on too.

Cheers everyone. For a while I was thinking I went a bit OTT with the colours, I actually wanted a colour background at the outset but the artist pursuaded me to go for black, which I’m glad I went for.
The artist is Miles from Frith Street in London.

Big question is whether I press on with the shading/colouring when I’m not 100% convinced with the tattoo… I’ll meet with the artist again to go through it.
As for the linework – that’s not a problem. It’s the shape/anatomy of the piece. The broken lines at the bottom are because I’m having the phoenix coming out of the clouds so they’ll blend…[Read more]
