I don’t think the one on your wrist will change shape too much or the one on your arm for that matter. My old man inked his backhand and wrist, still looks the same as it did when I was a kid. Well, more smudgey and faded but the shape of the piece looks to be the same. As for working out during your tattoo healing, don’t do it. I don’t know why but my tattooist told me sweating is really bad for a healing tattoo. give it at least two weeks and get back into your routine after that.

I agree with the last poster, 2 inches isn’t a lot of room to work three designs into it.

interesting idea, but dumb as hell at the same time. Think about political jokes from 10 years ago.. are they still funny? I think a timeless design will ensure that you stay happy with what you got.

If you find a skilled artist I doubt he’d have a problem covering that up, thick lines and all. You’re lucky that the piece is small, and that you want to keep it celtic. I’ve heard that covering a celtic piece with another celtic piece isn’t that hard.

Have you thought of getting it removed with a laser? I bet it would only take a few sessions for that piece. And even if they don’t manage to get it all out, a piece like that would lighten up significantly giving your artist an easier job to cover it up. It would also free up more options of what could be done with the cover up. Just a suggestion. But like I said earlier, your best bet is to go to your artist and ask him/her. I’ve seen some beautiful cover ups, it all really comes down to your artists skill level.

I’ve personally never had my ribs done, however my entire back is covered and the sides hurt like hell. I’d reckon that the ribs are even worse with all the thin skin and bone in the area. The thing about tattoo pain is that in short doses it’s bearable. But the longer the artist works on you the more it’s going to hurt. I remember the first couple hours are a breeze, after that tho it’s pretty painful no matter what area is being worked on. But seriously it’s not THAT bad, but bad enough for you to not want to be there. If you really want to go with the ribs then go for it, its gonna hurt no matter where you put it anyways, so just grin and bear it.

Your best bet is to go to an artist that you want to and ask them what can be done with it. I’d imagine it wouldn’t be too hard to cover that up. but I’d toss that last design idea out, its way too intricate, it’ll look like a blob of ink after a couple years.
