yeah i think his work is amazing. The whole of the top of my leg is going to be his work, like the circle of life. I’ll have to post some pictures once it is completed.

Does your artist have a website so we can check out some of his or hrs work?

If you search Hellsgates Tattoostudio on facebook he should come up. The artists name is John Howarth 🙂 he has a website for the studio but it doesnt get updated so you’re beter looking at the facebook page 🙂

Some of the tattoos i have done are also on the facebook page, as i now have an apprenticeship with him 🙂 however they arent exactly good haha.

Thank you to everyone else that has commented 🙂

A great example of what some shading done correctly can do for a tattoo.

I couldnt agree more. I love all the little details he put in, such as a small amount of grey shading in the hair. The little details really make the tattoo look amazing, and im so pleased i picked him to do my tattoos

i think due to the fact that tattoos have lost their association with gangs, bikers, and sailors a lot more people are willing to have them. Im 18 and got my first tattoos a week ago. I grew up around tattoos (my dad is in the navy and traveled a lot) and he’d come back with tattoos. Ive always been amazed by them but never actually wanted one because all the tattoos i saw when i was younger were all very similar. My dad has an anchor, with an eagle on it. This was very popular for guys in the navy. I always thought that tattoos could only look like that, it wasnt until my dad started getting more (he now has 6) and my mum started getting some (she has 5) that i realised anything was possible and from the age of about…12/13 i decided i wanted a tattoo.
I believe shows like Miami Ink, and L.A ink (although not showing the actual tattooing process 100%) has shown many people that tattooing is an amazing way of expressing yourself. I expressed myself through my piercings to start with as i like to be different and piercings arent a big thing in the small town i live in. I love art, and tattooing is a way where i can showcase my art work where ever i go, and carry a story, or some form of meaning around with me where ever i go, even if other people dont understand the story or meaing behind my tattoo i will always know it.

With regards to the club scene…i guess it depends what kind of club you go to. I mean when ive been to the typical night clubs..beside the people ive been with the only tattoos ive seen are stuff that look like they have been picked off of the wall, or tribal tramp stamps.

Over all i believe that as tattoos have broke away from the associations they used to have they have become more and more popular 🙂

Its strange, because ive seen a girl in a bank (one of the ones that actually deals with customers) with a big piece down her forearm. Ive also seen a girl in Superdrug with a pheonix all the way down her forearm. However big supermarkets like Sainsburys are very strict on their policy for tattoos and piercings. My friend got a job in Sainsburys (she has 5 facial piercings) and they said she could have the job on the basis that all of her piercings were removed.
I had a job in summer…and on the first day i made sure all visible piercings were removed, however i was running late one day and completely forgot to remove them and my boss didnt say a thing, and in fact throughout the day loads of people were talking to me about them. A couple of people my age, that were similar to me also said they only came over to the shop i was working at purely because i had piercings. I recently got my first tattoos on my wrists, and im just going to have to see what the boss from my summer job will say about them, although i cant see her having a problem with them. I guess it just depends on the employer, however i do believe they are becoming more widely accepted by people. Over here in the UK anyways.

Those ARE cute. I’m surprised you went with such visible ink for your first. Wish my parents would contribute to my tattoos; they HATE the fact that I have permanent artwork!

Ive wanted these tattoos for a while, and although they are on my wrists i can hide them if i want to. But i plan to wear my ink with pride, so i dont mind if people see them 🙂
My parents were happy to do it, due to the fact that it now gives them permission to go and get another haha. They’re both big tattoo fans 🙂 which is pretty cool! haha

Haha it could be for some people 😛 but it definitely isnt for me! My brain doesnt like to let me multi-task. I couldnt stand on stage, dance to music, and strip at the same time. This…would result in a hospital trip for me! haha

what do you model ??? would wrist tatoos be a detriment to getting modeling jobs?

I do alternative modelling and due to that its probably a good thing that i have tattoos haha, it will probably help me rather than hinder me 🙂 . As a model im expected to be “perfect”. Bows are added to a package to make them appear “perfect” however my bows are uneven and dont match…to show that although things can appear to be perfect, they still hold imperfections. Just like me as a model 🙂

Just because people assume something, doesn’t mean they’re right.
I know tons of skinheads. Non of them are racist.

However many skinheads (i am in a relationship with an ex-skinhead and as bad as that sounds he is the complete opposite to the way he was when he was a skinhead) are neo-nazi’s. Research combat 18.
But people with cross tattoos on there faces are generally associated with skinheads 🙂

Love/Hate tattoos can have many different meanings, some of them are religious, but ive seen people get them purely based on what hand they punch with. They’ve had hate on the knuckles of the hand they use most in fights. Conveys the idea that they spread hate with that hand, and love with the other.

Swallows are commonly related to sailors, however they are associated with having the “freedom to fly”

I dont know any significance of spiderweb tattoos though im affraid

The tattoo with your sons birthday incorporated is gorgeous.
I love the bright vibrant colours, and the fact that you’ve used something creative to pay homage than just a name with a banner with a date in it. Its really nice.

well isnt the whole point doin what makes you happy ? i asked everyones opinion because everyone here is into tattoos be in the end its still yalls opinion and wont change the fact if im happy with it or not so you can act like an ass about it but in the end i did what i wanted

Thats all that matters at the end of the day. If its what you want then thats fine.
At the end of the day not everyone is going to like a tattoo whether it is done by an amazing artist or not, because everyone has different tastes.
Get some clearer pictures of your tattoo up, i’d like to see more of it before judging it. I will say i found it very hard to actually see what your tattoo was of, but the image was dark. However i can see where everyone else was coming from when talking about the artist, if it was me i’d get another artist to finish it off.
Good on you for taking all the criticism on the chin though, and not bitching and moaning at everyone for the advice you’ve been given, and the opinions people gave.

there is significance to me.
I like the fact they appear to be perfect, but if you look at the picture the shading on mine isnt the exact same, and one ribbon is longer than the other on both wrists.
I wanted this because im a model, and im supposed to appear perfect, but i wanted to show that imperfections can be beautiful too, as what is perfect to one person wont be perfect to another person
Im really not sure if that made any sense, sorry! haha
