Dave Tedder at All or Nothing just finished my 7 session half sleeve and I know for a fact that he is never booked out more than 1 month. It is his “thing”

He is also less than $200/hour.

There are TONS of quality artists that arent booked way out. Just go to any of the reputable shops in the area and ask (or call). You wont get a bad tattoo at a GOOD, REPUTABLE shop.

Just to chime in here…

If your family is large, has a lot of history, was a part of European nobility, etc there will most likely be several “family crests.” You will need to do TONS of research to find out which one is yours and which one you will adopt. For example, my family name has two that can be adopted. One is of French origin and one is of English origin. Both are used and “accepted” by the entire family throughout history. This is the case in a lot of older, historical families. I wont sit here and bore you with the reasons why as you can research and learn pretty easily….

Point being…no one on the internet can (or should) be able to tell you what you family crest is. Your family may in fact not even have one; very few families actually have an AUTHENTIC, age old crest…You need to dig into the history of your family…find your family papers, find historical references, go ALL the way back to family inception….youll do one of two things (or both); 1) Find your family crest (or find that you dont have one, or 2) Learn a TON about your history and where you came from.

If your family does not have one, you can get a grant and have one designed. It is not that difficult if you have your geneology records in order.

Of course…this all being said…make sure we are on the same page here….you are talking about a CREST and not a COAT OF ARMS, correct? These are different and are interpreted MUCH differently.

Welcome. It looks like you are well on your way to get a great first tattoo.
Congrats on doing some research before getting your first

I have seen far too many bad tattoos to not find the right artist. It’s a big first tattoo…so I wanted it to be right.

Look forward to seeing this one, anyone at that shop would be excellent.

That shop is great. I would trust anyone there to do a stellar job; but Dave’s personality, style, eagerness, and genuine interest (at least….it seems that way 😀 ) to take on my idea was the winning point for me.

it will include a few things, all nautical/family based. My family has been heavily involved in southern nautical history since the colonization of the south. There will be a tallship, the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston harbor (named after my family) and on the inside of the arm will be a family crest. I gave Dave artistic freedom to put it all together, and I trust that he will come up with something great.

I will be sure to show pictures once my first session is done. I cant give much more info than that…because i dont have any!
