It does not mean the artist isn’t good. It means just what he said. The smaller the less detailed it can be to not be a blobby mess now or in the long run.

I have to ask the obvious question. How old are you? Are you of legal age to get a tattoo in your state?

I believe I have read that when the tattoo is shiny it means the skin is still healing. Give it a couple more weeks. The inner arm gets a lot of friction and may take longer to heal.

I love in inner arm tats. They look so cool kinda peeking out when your arm is down and pop when the arm is stretched out.
I would put the owl straight up and down (when your arm is by your side).

I am sorry for your loss! Was she old enough to establish likes and dislikes? MAybe she likes something in particular. Use that image and go from there.

Or the typicaly Phoenix rising from the ashes type of tattoo. You will find lots of examples of Koi and the phoenix. Water also represents rebirth, or starting over.

Or….. just get a cool tattoo that you like. They all don’t have to have symbolism or deep deep meaning.
