Last Sparrow Tattoo Ezine and Forum just posted a new video interview with Tim Hendricks (Saltwater Tattoo, Miami Ink, NY Ink) to their Tattooer Video Interview series. The series also includes Josh Arment, Bryan Burk, Nick Colella, Freddy Corbin, and Juan Puente.
Hope you enjoy them…..
thanks!
Are you willing to travel a little bit? If so, I would say goto Georgia as there are some world class tattooers within a few hours of you. There’s a very insightful/helpful tattoo discussion called Who do you think deserves some recognition?. These are tattooers that tend to get less credit so far but are top notch and getting more known. You could get them before the wait list get too long. Remember you get what you pay for so shopping around for the “cheapest” tattooer/tattoo can mor eoften than not end up being a cheap tattoo that won’t look very good in the long run.
If you’re willing to travel a little further the list can be much longer. Sometimes traveling to get tattooed is so much fun and well worth it!
hope this helps….
I second this! Where are you located i am sure we can suggest some good shops and tattooers…..
Yeah Tim’s on it plus some other talented tattooers. There has been some talk about it over at that new tattoo forum Scott Sylvia started called Last Sparrow Tattoo. The problem with these shows is how they portray tattooing to the larger public but some good tattoos are done so people just need to remember it is a show. Tim speaks about this on some of his post on the other forum.
As to the tattooing only on camera, they tattoo all the time but there are also tattooers “behind” the scenes who do most of the other tattoos for walk-ins and such. The “behind” the scenes tattooers are often as good if not better than some on the show. The talent that tattoos on and off camera is awesome!
Welcome to the site. You want it on the sides of your fingers right? Always would have to go on one side and forever on the other unless you have monster fingers. One of the reasons finger and knuckle tattoos look bad is b/c people get them too small. And the other reason you have to go to a good tattooer that has done hundreds of these tattoos and knows the tricks so they don’t blow out. With that being said it leads to your last part on “will someone do it?”. Sure there is always some dumbass tattooer who will do someones hand, fingers, neck, face, etc for visual tattoos without a fair amount of the rest of their body covered. And the tattooers who you would want to do a good finger tattoo more than likely won’t do it out of respect for the history, stigmas, and plain respect for tattooing in general. There are tons of people walking around with visual tattoos and no leg, front, and/or back pieces covering large amounts of skin. Times are changing and yes there are less social stigmas and work related stigmas with this but don’t be one of those people. You have enough common sense and respect to sign-up on a forum and ask so how about putting the tattoo elswhere? This is said in the most respectful way by the way and I hope it is useful?!?
Why change it though? It’s a solid pice. For my money, you ought to leave it be and move on to the next piece.
Love. Peace. Metallica.
I’d say move onto a new piece or maybe another bird facing the other direction or some traditional style tattoos……..
Sounds good…..look forward to pics!
Cool. even if you have the stuff tattooed larger I think sometimes small filler of the same things rather than just stars and dots add character. look fwd to the pictures.
Love. Peace. Metallica.
Agreed but also flash is flash………
If you’re having trouble just find a tattooer/shop you like and take the idea to them and if they are a true tattooer they will be able to walk you throw it for some images. I’m thinking Traditional represents this but thats my mind……..
Mike Lucena who worked at Blackheart Tattoo in SF relocated out to FlyRite in Brooklyn last I heard and is by far amazing and less known. Also Beau Brady at Daredevil in Manhattan. Plus numerous others. Look at these guys work at let me know if you want more…..
The pain is part of the experience so you gotta accept it or more on……..
People are going to judge regardless so do as you please if it makes you happy! Some woman pull off tattoos better than other woman as do men. So I think it comes down to the tattooer and placement!
If you like it and believe you will continue to like it goto a good tattooer so it last and there is your meaning! Some tattoos and placement do have meanings but much of this has been lost with the latest increase in popularity in tattoos so you should be alright.
Look for a traditional tattooer. Karl Hedgepath @ jinxproof in DC and Beau Brady in NYC are the first that come to mind but I could go on for days on good east coast traditional tattooers. So how about some cities you’re considering traveling to or are near?
