What’s up with the stars on your shoulders? The reason I ask is cause they look like Russian mafia tattoos. If your not associated I’d be mindful of where I flashed those.
Im either looking for that or for something that is intricate but “functional”, In not wanting the intricate Celtic sort of stuff. It’s nice, but not my thing. I like the art side of things.
Any suggestions or links are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
What meaning did they have for you that is now lost? If you want a koi get it. The reason you see a lot of them is because it’s a traditional image in japanese style tattooing just as an anchor is a traditional image in the old school style. A really well done japanese style koi, or old school anchor tattoo for that matter will always look great/timeless regardless of whether they happen to be popular or not. Of course all bets are off it you artist is shit.:D
Just please don’t get your own name. I never understood that one.
Two hours should be a piece of cake. It will fly by and you will wish you had booked for a couple more.
Another aspect of it all is that the art itself is older than tattooing. The tattoos are sprung out of old wood blocks of art.
Japan is a very homogeneous culture bordering on racist when it comes to anything or anyone non-Japanese. So tattoo’d or not you will be an outsider when you go there.
Ace the bird and just get a few skulls around it. That should butch it up for ya 😀

I sort of put band and sports team tats in the same category as getting your girlfriends name tattoo’d on you.
What are all of these “extra precautions” people are talking about? If the shop is doing everything they should be doing as far as sterility then no “extra precautions” should be neccesary. If someone wants to put on a mask to tattoo someone with known Hep C why are they not wearing a mask for all clients as someone may have Hep C/HIV and not know it or disclosed it?
I’m in the process of getting a Japanese style sleeve and could care less about the link between tattooing and the Yakuza. It’s the same thing as asking if you are worried about getting a tattoo because historically only sailors and bikers got tattooed. The imagery that is used in Japanese tattooing is cultural in that most if not all Japanese relate to it not just gangsters.
Just as U.S Naval veteran (or any branch of the military) might take offense to a civilian wearing an insignia he has not earned, a Russian Naval verteran may feel the same way and you may just open yourself up for an ass whoopin if the wrong person sees it. This especially goes for those out there who want Russian style prison tattoos. You may have good intentions but don’t be surprised if it gets you in trouble some day.
I don’t have a problem with an employer who does not allow visible tattoos. In fact I believe that any non-gonvernment owned business should be able to discriminate with respect to hiring on any basis. I may choose not to work for them or patronize them, but it is still their right.
That being said it still sucks. Anyway, if you CHOOSE to get tattoos that are not easily covered hands/neck then you made your bed so you gotta lie in it. Time to pony up for some laser sessions or get a job where they don’t care.
So that is a map to where Satan lives, and he lives in Minneapolis?
Although it shouldn’t really bother me, it is a pet peeve of mine as well. Currently I’m in the process of getting a “sleeve” done but since I”m stopping a few inches from my wrist can I still call it a sleeve? 😀
