If you’d like me to, I can make a more detailed sketch for you and incorporate the additions to the cross that the tattoo artist made into the design. ๐

replied to the topic Idea for a tattoo possible? in the forum Inked Skin 15 years ago
Yes, it would be possible.
As I envision this, it’d make a great side tattoo. Quick sketch (didn’t find a more readable theme-fitting font in my list, so this will have to make do): Link
With shading, there would be rays of light behind the text, to make it easier to read and to make it look like she’s wading towards light. The little circles…[Read more]

There’s a “flash tattoos” section where you can post them, I still have to put my stuff there instead of in my introduction ๐ Looking forward to see your drawings!

Mine didn’t really itch a lot actually. I did wash it, but not under the shower. Everytime before I put on a new layer of ointment, I would rinse it carefully with a not-too-wet washcloth.

I thought you weren’t supposed to have too much water touch the tattoo until it has healed, to prevent colour loss? At least, that’s what my tattoo guy told me. I had a rough time trying to keep the shower water away from my tattoo for a week or so :/

Heehee, thanks for the compliments ๐
I don’t really see many options to mask those rays other than wings, or maybe vines as miss_ivy suggested. Or a crown of thorns. You could have two snakes wrapped around the cross, but that would be kind of a contrast (with snakes being evil in the Bible) and I don’t know if that’s something you want ๐

This raised a few questions with me, to be honest…
Since when do TV producers use Hotmail and cell phone numbers to receive applications for a new show?
Also, since when does the (vague) ad for a new show not even mention which producer/channel is producing it?
Also, why is the name of the show not capitalized in the introduction to your…[Read more] -

As for the dragon, maybe you could turn it into a full dragon instead of just the head and neck, and have it wrap around your arm. The place where the neck stops right now would be a good starting point for a wing.

replied to the topic Whats the heaviest metal song you have heard? in the forum Music – Video – Film 15 years ago
I think grindcore is too fast to be “heavy”. When I hear that word, things like the chorus of Machine Head’s “Davidian” come to mind rather than Annotations (whose new album does rock, btw). Or Amon Amarth’s “The Pursuit Of Vikings”.
Also, that kid is too cute! ๐

Poor you. That looks like the “artist” didn’t even stencil the diamonds on first. ๐ The biggest diamond looks like a purse because it’s duplicated, it looks like two 2D layers instead of a 3D diamond with a shadow.
Maybe, just maybe a good tattoo artist would be able to mask that horror by adding decent shading, if you really want the diamonds…[Read more]

The problem is that it’s too high up, wrap-around wings like in that example tattoo would end up in your neck. Here’s a very quick sketch of what I would do to cover up the rays with wings:
Of course you can alter the size of them, make them spread out over your shoulders or droop like the ones in your example picture. The idea is just to…[Read more]

Superb, I’ll spend some time putting together a portfolio then, maybe I’ll look for a teacher in the first half of next year.

I think most artists who are serious about apprenticing someone frown upon already tattooing someone without working in a shop.
I’ve never heard of someone having to show what tattoos they’ve already done to get an apprenticeship – most places will just require a well done portfolio.
Even when you get an apprenticeship, you…[Read more] -

Thanks ๐ It’s not a plan for the very near future (graduation is still 1.5 years away and I might do something else first to earn some money), I just want to be well informed beforehand.

What a coincidence, I’m also from Belgium/Flanders and thinking of becoming a tattoo artist. Where do you live? I’m close to Antwerp…
