I had mine done with a gun. I heard after I had it done that having it done with a gun can shatter the cartilidge or cause the piercing to migrate more but mine seems fine. Saying that, I had alot of problems with infections in the first year of me having it but it seems fine now 😀

You will need to talk to a tattoist about it. Most tattoists won’t tattoo over scars because of the way scar tissue forms. I suggest you go see a couple of tattooists and see what they say. If one person says yes but 9 say no then I wouldn’t bother getting it done.

To do with the pain thing-get some numbing cream from Sainsbury’s. It’s called Ametop and it’s a local anaesthetic and will dull the pain for a while. It does depend on how perceptible to pain. Have you had any piercings before on places like the tragus?

Yes I’m getting a full back-piece but it’s only the line work because I can’t afford to get the colour and shading done too just yet.

Last question: My tattooist told me to get numbing cream and put that on to take the edge off the pain, does it work and how long before can I put it on?

I’ve got the same problem, I’m getting mine done Thursday so I can let you know after that how I manage. I’m thinking a soft cloth or something but I’ll have to wait and see.
