It’s not suction cups, man. Look up the blue ringed octopus and you’ll see that it is really a stunningly beautiful marking on this creature. I’m not to sure on the octopus suction cup idea. Kinda of just looks or will look like one of the many leopard print tattoos out there. That was my first thought too. Personally, I’m thinking that’s just one of those things that look better on paper than in reality. From what I can see of the dragonfly, it looks really…[Read more]

Good luck with your Torres appt! Should be awesome.

B/G for sure. Personally, I’m not feeling Dmitry’s color work when it comes to skin tones (though loving his color work on other things, like the red and yellow leaves). They do have different signature styles, but they all display an extremely good command of shadowing and realism in general. They also all have displayed previous work that have…[Read more]

Yeah, that’s disgustingly bad work. Take your money elsewhere. Also might I suggest that you spend a lot of time studying portfolios before settling on an artist. When you know how to compare and grade work, then you’re ready to get tattooed. Example:

Thanks Buttwheat, like I said I am ONLY getting the angel. I’m not looking to get my chest done at this point (I’m a girl so there are “obstacles” ;-)).
I’ll edit the first picture to exclude what I don’t want.

Dude, you really only have two choices if you are concious about your religious stance:
a) Scrap the idea and any variations on that idea, or
b) Scrap atheismOr you could always just go for it and spend the rest of your life looking like a fool when people ask you about the religious significance of your tattoo. But hey, it could be worse, like…[Read more]

A text tattoo may not be art – but the same goes for image tattoos. Tattooing is not artistry in itself, it is a trade and may or may not be art, depending on factors such as:
– The uniqueness of the idea
– The intent of the creator
– The effect on the viewer
– The craftmanshipIf you know the slightest thing about art, you would not hesitate to…[Read more]

Great piece. I love the background flowers and filligree. The couple don’t do much for me, but it may be because of the woman’s arms – the left elbow in particular. But all in all an artistic piece with a great idea behind it.

Thanks guys! When I saw the work of Den Yakovlev, I knew he was the guy for this particular tattoo. When it comes to realism, I’m just compromise – I’d rather not have a tattoo! I’m also a big fan of Robert Hernandez (ES) and Carlos Torres (US).
Den has a unique control over depth of field as well as shading.
You can check out some of his other…[Read more] - Load More
