Turns out I made the right choice. My girlfriend came back from Cambodia last Thursday, and I didn’t tell her I got it done. I thought she would be mad, so I waited until she came back before telling her. At first she was mad, and hit me with her bag. Later on when she got a better look at it, she loved it. The next day I went to her place and she already told her mum and sisters about it. They came running to the door to see it. Then today in the car with her brother and dad, she made me explain the meaning of my tattoo and the story behind the prayer. Best decision I’ve made in a long time!
I searched up Kraken on google images and got a few.
And here is a page dedicated to squids and links to other squid related website. Hope it helps.
What are you thinking of getting done??
I had my first tattoo a couple of days ago, on my chest. Pretty far from my pubic area, though. From what I’ve heard, the pubic area is very painful. I could handle getting my chest tattooed, but it was so painful near my armpit. It will be much worse for the pubic area.
finally done! It turned out better than I thought it would. Was worth four hours of being poked by needles!
hey all
just an update. im getting my tattoo done today (in a couple of hours in fact) so pics will be up tonight.
This thread is hilarious! I’ve been following it for a couple of days and it keeps getting better. Funny how manax acts like he doesn’t care, yet he keeps coming back and posting more shit.
My friend is getting his back done. I went with him for one session and he said the pain is not too bad. He said that what hurts is having to keep your back in the same position for hours, not the actual needle itself.
I think I saw the other one on flickr. It’s head isn’t turned around, yea? I’ve called my tattoo place and moved my booking until next Monday. Was going to wait until Ramadan finished but I really can’t wait any longer.
your son’s name is pretty cool! I love Arab names. Sounds so exotic!
^ That sounds pretty cool. I will give you all the details you need.
A little update on my tattoo. I decided to do a little more research into the design, just so I am 110% sure I am getting what is right for me. It is a lion, not a tiger as I previously thought.
The piece itself is made up of a prayer called Naad-E-Ali, which means Call on Ali. The prayer was brought to Mohammed (PBUH) by the archangel Jibraeel (Gabriel). The prayer was a means for Mohammed (PBUH) to contact Ali during the Battle of Khaybar. Ali was not at the battle due to illness, but after the prayer was recited, he came to battle and the the fort of Khaybar was conquered.
The shape of the lion also has some significance, as Ali was known as the Lion of Allah.
There are some beliefs that the prayer will bring protection from enemies and good fortune to whoever recites it.
Examples include:
-“sufficient means of livelihood, for prosperity and overall welfare.”
-“if you want your debts to repaid within reasonable time.”
-“if you are childless and desire to have a child.”

After doing this research I have no doubt that this tattoo is the right one for me. It has a deep meaning that applies to me. Also, some people owe me money, so hopefully this prayer will help me get paid back!
Thanks for the advice. I’m gonna go ahead and get it done.
thanks for the support. I will post when it is finished. I’m thinking of getting it earlier, so pics might be up next week.
yea, I understand that it’s a prayer, I’m Muslim. I know what it means as well. I had a look through flickr and couldn’t find the one I’m getting.
I’ll post it here
yea, that’s what I reckon. I’ve been thinking of getting the tattoo long before I met her. I’ll give it a go. Whatever happens, happens. I still have a couple of weeks to decide so I need to be 100% sure that what I’m doing is the right choice.
alright, I will spill the beans. It’s not a custom design, but a piece of Arabic art. It’s a tiger made up of Arabic script. I haven’t seen it done before, but my tattoo artist has done something similar.
