As you probably know, alot of artists stencil the piece first. Its a great way of getting detail into the tattoo.
Its quite a quick process doing a stencil, as opposed to freehand work. But dont get me wrong….There are alot of talented feehand tattooists today. But will still stencil.
The rest of the process is generally up to the artistic flair of the individual.
Keep practicing. Draw,draw, draw. Thats why we are called artists 😀

thanks man, ya there’s like only two tattoo shops around were i live, i got the han, eye and art for it but no openings on apprentice jobs.man i hate living in a small town at 18.

im not saying its not possible but that’s a tough one, like the closest thing i could think of is he names inside the design with the flow of the tribal design or to do a tribal design and faintly in the back round area of it throw the names in unnoticeable. message me back i wouldnt mind seeing what i could do.

Take your artwork with you show you are serious and beprepared for the long haul as you will be expected to either pay for the apprenticeship or at least work for no or very little money.

But make the first move and visit a local artist and get some feedback on your drawings etc.

thanks for the advice guys and women, much appreciated. i am gunna get some of my work copyright then ill post it up for you all to check out, recently just worked on a design piece of the measurements of 40in x 32in took me about 6-8 hours to complete all drawn with two boxes of uni-ball ink pens.

what if you went with a tribal design that’s in the shape of the sword but with a scroll like banner across the middle of it just an idea that way your not actually incorporating a sword but it resembles that and in the scroll you could put the words or whatever. i wouldnt mind designing it if you want. let me know znartist@sbcglobal.net

leo is my starsign, so i chose this

ive seen that image all over the web but that’s besides the point, i was gonna get a tattoo i designed 6 months ago and ill tell you i would of regret it and you know why because 4 months later i drew something even better that was gonna go in the same area didnt get it, so my point is give yourself time to think things through don’t just jump into it search around if some of your friends are good artist take a couple of images you like and have him incorporate both, to sum me rambling on just think it through cause you might 2 months down the road find one better you want to put in the same spot if its your first tattoo!
