… neither of which applies to a comic art tattoo … but I agree that it is just “ok.”
I was more referring to the fact that it is a tattoo of a face.
Damn man, those are awesome. There very few artists in Victoria I’d trust to do realism like that but I might have to look Mick Squire up and check out his work. The skull is done very nicely, too.
Very nice. It’s not my type of thing but good work is to be appreciated no matter what form it takes. I don’t even want to think about the pain you went through; I had enough of a session around the scapula and collar bone let alone an entire tattoo on the shin..

I was thinking this, also. I believe portraits and realism tattoos are best left to those who specialise in them since it is such a delicate art.
Thanks guys but.. busted out the camera today and got my dad to take some photos. Prepare yourselves 😀
All done! Finished the last session 2 weeks ago so I let it heal up before I took some photos. Got some bigger ones this time but they’re still from my phone so it doesn’t do the tattoo much justice.
Thanks, I’m actually hoping he has a long waiting list so I’m not tempted to invest the money sometime soon. It’s worth every cent but trying to save money for so many other things as well.
Update on my sleeve: the most recent red ink done on the dragon has faded a lot like the front of the dragon did so I’m expecting to do a second round on it as well. Flames have stuck well so far though which I’m really happy with.

I will also have to agree with this. The skull really sets up the rest of the piece and showcases the vibrant colours in contrast.
I want to go to Ben Laukis for my next tattoo. I’m not sure whether to use a theme or not though as he does portraits. It’s pretty much down to Scorsese characters, gangster movie characters or simply great character portrayals in film.

Cheers mate.

It’s an unusual style of Japanese, the background is kind of odd, not in bad way but kinda unique. It’s really well done and I like the use of subtle colour against the background, this is the way Japanese should look IMO. Who is the artist, wouldn’t mind checking out his other work. Cheers.
Definitely know what you mean; the top half in particular I think where he brought in mountains and a moon rather than just the smoke/fill.
His name is Jamin Swaneveld and he owns Last Frontier Tattoos in Upwey, Victoria. He does have a facebook page but to see his more recent stuff you have to friend hhs personal page.

You have a gorgeous body.
And a lovely sleeve. But more importantly a nice body.
Haha, thank you. Not sure what else to say!

Tattoo looking great mate 🙂
Cheers, man. I was wondering where all the extra comments were coming from, lol.

Looks great!
Thanks! I said to my artist that I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself when it’s done.
2 more sessions since my last post guys and I’ve got about 3 hours left until it’s finished! Hopefully he can get me in just after new years.
Sorry the pictures are on the small side and crappy quality; they don’t do it justice at all. Just have to finish off the dragon with some bold lines and some colour on the outer scales, possibly retouch the flames from this session if the ink doesn’t hold well and it’s all done. It’s been an insane journey.
Lol. The artist who is currently working on my sleeve.
I don’t think it’s as bad as people are saying. Now, I’ve seen some god awful portraits which is why I’ve never considered getting one as a tattoo until recently. I think your artist did well with the face but his work with hair/beards will be something to focus on to get the little details down pat.
